Two Nearly Frozen Kittens Were Found In An Empty Garage Desperately Waiting To Be Rescued

Sharing is caring!

Every now and then I stumble upon a heartwarming animal rescue story that restores my faith in humanity. Now, I’m excited to share one such tale with you, in hopes it’ll brighten your day and warm your heart as much as it did mine.

Recently, a compassionate woman, who is a devoted cat parent to three beautiful felines, heard peculiar sounds coming from a vacant garage.

Recognizing the cries as a kitten’s plea for help and knowing it was the cold tail-end of autumn, she knew she had to act fast.

She rushed to the garage and discovered, to her dismay, that the frigid temperatures had nearly frozen two white and orange kittens. They were all alone, with no mother in sight, desperately needing love and care.

Despite already having three grown cats back at home, the woman knew she couldn’t leave the two orphaned kittens she had just found.

Taking matters into her own hands, she embarked on a rescue mission.

She found an old cardboard box nearby and gently placed the kittens inside. They were timid but friendly, allowing her to pick them up without much fuss.

Once safely nestled in the box, she took them to the vet for a thorough examination.

Although the kittens were a bit mischievous, the vet managed to conduct several tests, the results of which would take a few days.

In the meantime, the woman took the little ones home, bathed them to remove the fleas they were covered with, and fed them goat milk formula.

The kittens were famished, eating with such fervor that it broke the woman’s heart. Who knows how many days they’d spent hungry and alone, without their mom to feed them…

For the first few days, everything went well. The kittens adjusted to their new home, spending their time eating, sleeping, and steering clear of the three resident cats who weren’t thrilled with their new tiny roommates.

However, on the fifth day, everything changed. The kittens started vomiting, alarming the woman who feared she might have done something wrong.

Finding worms in the vomit, she realized the situation was serious and rushed them to the vet the next day, hoping to treat the infestation and get them back to health.

Suspecting the kittens might have feline panleukopenia virus, a highly contagious and infectious disease, the vet performed a PCR test, which confirmed his suspicions.

Consequently, the kittens spent the following week traveling back and forth to the clinic for treatment and anti-vomiting medication.

Thankfully, they soon improved significantly, much to the relief of their new mom.

Once the treatment concluded, the kittens’ appetite fully returned. They began eating normally again, enjoying high-quality kitten formula and even soft cat food.

They still ate so eagerly, probably because of the trauma of having starved for too long.

Aside from that, they were two happy and healthy kitties who relished their new indoor life – a stark contrast to their previously cold and frightening outdoor existence.

Under the woman’s tender and loving care, the kittens continued to grow in health and happiness.

It breaks my heart to think they could have passed away if she hadn’t found them that day. Thankfully, they were fortunate to be rescued by such a kind woman who gave them the life they deserved.
