A local shelter in New Jersey received terrible news about a little kitten trapped in a storm drain. As soon as they got the call they rushed to help!
It began with a desperate cry for help coming from the bottom of a storm drain. The dedicated animal control officers Jess and Karen sprung into action. A tiny kitten was trapped and they were her only hope. They knew they had to save her!
As the shelter employees arrived on the scene, they heard the kitten’s desperate cries and their hearts broke. Every meow was a cry for help…
They set out to save the little kitten, but unfortunately they couldn’t reach it and the kitten was too scared to come out. Despite their best efforts, the kitten was out of their reach.
They tried to get closer for hours, thinking of ways to grab her and bring her to safety, but it was all in vain…
Last thing left to do, their last idea that came to mind, was to place a humane trap near the storm drain, hoping the kitten would enter it during the night. They filled the trap with yummy food hoping it would lure the kitten inside.
The next morning brought a glimmer of hope: while the kitten wasn’t inside the trap, she was perched right on top of it.
They were determined to save her and nothing could stop them! Giving up wasn’t an option!
The rescuers then used a net trying to catch the kitten and after struggling for about two hours, they finally made it! The little kitten was saved! Poor little baby was freezing, so they quickly brought her inside to warm her up.
The little shivering kitty was named Stormy and placed in a loving foster home. After possibly more than 24 hours in the storm drain, Stormy was finally safe.
There she will get the necessary treatment for her coryza (a respiratory condition common in stray kittens) before they find her a forever home. The shelter workers say how she’s a great little kitten, full of love and zest for life. As they shared on Facebook:
“She is receiving nutritious meals, and treatment for her eye infections. She is a friendly little girl who seems very happy to be with us. Cheers to ACOs Jess and Karen, and the folks from DPW that pitched in to help a tiny kitten in need! 🎉 🙌”
Even with her health challenges, including an eye condition, Stormy’s zest for life shone through. She explored her new surroundings with curiosity and vigor, her little heart full of courage and the will to live.
Stormy needs time to rest and heal. Thanks to her rescuers she’ll be able to recover completely. She is a feisty little fighter yearning for love, and I hope she’ll be adopted into a family that will give her back all the love she’s willing to give.
Shelter workers quickly discovered Stormy’s insatiable appetite and her love for attention. Every meal was a delight, and she soaked up every moment of affection. She loves to eat and enjoys all the ear scratches she can get!
This resilient kitten, who had faced such a harrowing ordeal, was now blossoming into a loving and lively companion. Let’s hope she finds the loving home she deserves, and a forever family she can share her sweet personality with.
After her treatment and once she’s completely cured and old enough, she’ll be up for adoption. So keep an eye out because Stormy might just be the furry friend you’ve been waiting for!
