Couple Follows Yipping Sounds In Colorado Canyons And Finds Two Tiny Survivors High On A Cliff
What started as a peaceful hike through Colorado’s rugged canyons quickly took an unsettling turn for Brody and Katie, who were out exploring with their dog, Spaghetti.
The quiet didn’t last long. Katie suddenly stopped in her tracks when sharp, desperate yips echoed off the canyon walls.

At first, she tried to explain it away—coyotes were everywhere out there, and their cries often carried strangely through the rocks.
But this sounded wrong. The calls weren’t drifting off into the distance. They were moving. Getting closer. Whatever was making that sound wasn’t just nearby. It seemed to be following them.
Then, they saw movement. Two tiny faces poked out from a jumble of rocks high above. They weren’t coyotes. They were dogs. And they looked absolutely terrified.

There were no paths nearby, no signs of anyone else around. It didn’t make sense. There was no way those dogs got up there on their own.
Brody and Katie called out, hoping someone might respond. But all they heard was silence and the wind. Just them and the two pups stranded up high.
Brody grabbed his climbing equipment and started scanning the rock for a way up. The dogs had gone quiet again, and he was beginning to worry he’d lost track of them.

But something pushed him to keep climbing. That’s when he noticed it: a cool, shadowed nook tucked into the cliff. He scrambled closer, and there they were.
The dogs were curled up, completely cornered, with nowhere else to go, as Brody shared in a YouTube video:
“And that’s when I see this shaded cave. And I see this little Chihuahua head stick out. And I’m like, ‘No way.’”

As Brody approached, the pups seemed to understand that they weren’t alone anymore. They rushed toward him and showered him with kisses.
Using his climbing gear, Brody fashioned makeshift harnesses and secured each dog safely. Then came the real challenge: getting back down.
With one pup tucked on each thigh, Brody began to rappel off the cliff. The dogs nestled in, completely trusting the man who had just become their hero.

And so Brody floated through the air with the dogs on his legs, as he shared:
“By the time we got to the overhanging point, which means my feet are no longer touching the wall, I’m floating in space from the rope, one dog sat on each of my legs and I’m able to use my hands to manage the rope while having my arms around them.”

Inspired by Spaghetti’s name, the two new rescues quickly got their own food-themed nicknames: Parmesan and Meatball.
Sadly, the timing wasn’t right for keeping the pups. With a work trip coming up, the couple made the hard choice to take them to a local shelter where they’d be safe and cared for.
Weeks later, the good news arrived: both dogs had found their forever families.

For Brody and Katie, it was more than just a rescue. It was a moment that left a lasting mark. As Katie reflected:
“I think that our experience with Parmesan and Meatball was really a beautiful lesson to us about, you know, the hope that there still is out there, and that you can do good things, and that we can take a dark situation and turn it into something light.”
Well, I can’t agree more with Katie. A little kindness can truly change the world for someone.
