A stray cat named Aslan finally found the courage to step inside a loving home. Then, he used his newfound bravery to help a timid friend do the exact same thing.
A Fall Morning Visitor
It all started on a crisp fall morning when a stray cat suddenly appeared outside a couple’s home.
At the time, the couple was living at the Fort Drum Army base in New York.
The poor feline looked like he had been living a rough life outdoors, but his eyes told a different story.
His finder could immediately tell that he desperately wanted a home, and more than anything, he wanted to come inside.
Earning His Trust
Despite his desire to be indoors, the stray cat was still cautious about trusting humans.
Living outside in survival mode had clearly taken a toll on him.
The couple decided to take things slow, offering him food and a gentle presence every single day.
Over the span of about eight weeks of consistent feeding, they slowly began to earn his trust.
Stepping Into A New Life
After two months of patience, the moment the couple had been waiting for finally arrived.
One day, they simply opened their front door, and the brave cat decided to take a leap of faith.
He walked right inside, leaving the harsh outdoor elements behind for good.

The Best Sleep Of His Life
The transition from a street cat to a spoiled indoor pet happened almost instantly.

A Secret Shadow
But as Aslan settled into his new life, his rescuers remembered a detail from his time outdoors.
When he used to show up in their yard, they had noticed a small calico cat who would often be by his side.
Unlike Aslan, this little calico was incredibly timid.
If she heard any human noises or saw the couple at all, she would immediately run away and hide.
Leading By Example
Even though Aslan was now safe inside, his connection to the little calico wasn’t forgotten.
Using his own experience, he essentially taught the timid cat how to trust humans.
He showed her that it was safe to come towards his new family.
A couple of months after Aslan moved in, his gentle encouragement worked, and the couple was able to bring the calico inside as well.
The Wise King Of The House
Today, the bonded pair gets to live a happy, safe life indoors together.
The couple named their brave boy Aslan, after the wise lion king from the book "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."
His mom lovingly calls him the "Buddha of our house" because he is incredibly calm and grounded.
He seems like an old soul who has lived many lives, and he is just thrilled to finally be inside.
Choosing To Be Brave
Aslan’s love language is physical touch, and he absolutely loves being held.
Whether they are watching TV or hosting guests—including their energetic two-year-old niece—Aslan just wants to be part of the happy chaos.
His mom doesn’t know how he was treated by humans in his past, but she knows how hard it is for stray animals to let their guard down.
She is forever grateful that he chose to be brave, chose to trust, and helped his best friend do the same.
