A Chance Meeting At The Shelter
When Evan visited a local animal rescue, she wasn’t just looking for a pet. She was hoping to find a meaningful connection with an animal in need.
What she found was a quirky orange cat with a personality completely his own. Frankie was a little clumsy, a bit introverted, and had some truly baffling habits.

“You hear about orange cat things and that’s typical Frankie,” Evan explained. The sweet boy was clumsy and always tried to jump on things, often ending up falling.
He also developed a fascination with gravity. Frankie loved to test out whether objects would fall if he pushed them.
“He tests everything out,” Evan joked. In the middle of the night, Frankie could be heard knocking over water cups and food bowls just to see what would happen.
The Midnight Sprinter
Even when Frankie was relaxing, he kept his mom entertained. He would often sit quietly, minding his own business, before a sudden burst of energy hit.
Evan would notice Frankie’s ears suddenly turn on “airplane mode.” That was the universal sign that the cat was about to make a move.
Without warning, Frankie would sprint onto his exercise wheel. He would run as fast as he could for about 10 seconds.
Just as quickly as it started, the workout would end. He would walk off the wheel like nothing happened and go right back to lounging.
A Shared Need For Space
Despite his sudden bursts of goofy energy, Frankie was largely an independent spirit. He preferred to initiate affection on his own terms.
Evan quickly learned that the best approach was to leave Frankie alone until the cat chose to show love. It was a dynamic Evan completely understood.
“I respect him how he needs space because I’m the same, little bit introverted,” Evan shared. This mutual understanding helped build a strong foundation of trust.
They let Frankie decide when he was ready to bond. That patience paid off in the most heartwarming ways.
The Bathroom Salon Routine
When Frankie finally decides to show affection, he goes all in. “When he shows you love, you feel like the most special person in the world,” Evan said.
The two developed a special routine every night when Evan goes into the bathroom to brush his teeth. Frankie immediately jumps up on the counter to join him.
As Evan brushes his own hair, Frankie demands that his “hair” be done, too. The cat puts his little paws up and waits for Evan to brush his back.
After their grooming session, they head to bed. As soon as Evan lays down, Frankie climbs up and settles right onto his mom’s chest, purring incredibly loud.
A Patient Big Brother
Frankie’s affectionate nature isn’t just reserved for Evan. He also takes his role as Bernie’s big brother very seriously.
Bernie is a bit more chaotic and frequently gets into messy situations around the house. He often returns covered in food or spiderwebs.
Whenever Bernie comes back from an adventure looking disheveled, Frankie steps in. The older cat immediately starts grooming his messy little brother.

Wise Beyond His Ears
Their brotherhood also includes plenty of playful wrestling. It’s almost always Frankie who flops down and lets Bernie attack him first.
However, Frankie knows exactly how to set boundaries. If the play fight gets a little bit too serious, Frankie will stand his ground and put Bernie in his place.
“Frankie, I personally think he’s wise beyond his ears,” Evan reflected with a smile. The quirky orange cat has brought an immeasurable amount of joy into the home.
From talking to walls to demanding midnight grooming sessions, Frankie has transformed Evan’s world. “They have just made my life significantly better,” Evan said, grateful for every laugh her rescue boys provide.
