If you imagine a sweet, quiet little bird sitting peacefully in a cage, you haven’t met Bogie.

His owner describes him as having "the confidence of a dragon." He is a bird who knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to demand it.

In fact, living with Bogie is a lot like living with a very specific, highly energetic feline.

"Bogie is like a cat, but on steroids," his owner jokes. He makes a daily habit of throwing everything right off the counters.

When birds are babies, they tend to be incredibly sweet and cuddly.

But as they grow up and mature, their personalities blossom, and things can get a bit more complicated.

Bogie’s owner affectionately calls him a "little troll." He chews on everything in sight, he’s loud, and he can be quite demanding.

To make the relationship work, they had to establish some ground rules. "You need boundaries with humans, you need boundaries with pets," his owner explains.

Finding Their Rhythm

Despite the occasional biting and the loud screaming as he flies between his perches, Bogie has a fun-loving side.

He absolutely loves to dance, and he has a very specific taste in music.

Bogie reacts especially well to reggae and rap, bobbing along to the beat.

He also craves being the center of attention, making sure all eyes are on him whenever he enters a room.

Living with Bogie is a bit of a yo-yo experience, but the bond they share is undeniably strong.

The demanding bird has a deeply affectionate side that shines through every single morning.

"The second he wakes up, he wants head rubs," his owner shares.

He is heavily bonded to his human, and deep down, his owner suspects Bogie knows he can be a bit of an inconvenience—but it’s all part of the love they share.

Because of their strong bond, Bogie’s owner decided it was time to start taking the bird out into the world.

It turns out, Bogie is an excellent travel companion.

He really loves riding in the car, where he becomes incredibly vocal.

In fact, the only place he sings and chatters more than in the car is when he’s hanging out in the shower.

Getting out into nature has been a wonderful way for the duo to spend quality time together outside the house.

Recently, their adventures reached an unbelievable new height.

Bogie’s owner decided to take the confident bird up in a hot air balloon.

While most pets might panic at the thought of leaving the ground, Bogie was completely unfazed.

"We went up there and Bogie was super calm," his owner recalls. "It was almost like he didn’t know he was 5,000 feet up in the air."

Not many parrots can brag about taking a hot air balloon ride, but Bogie takes it all in stride.

His recent good behavior has only encouraged his owner to plan even more trips.

With boundaries in place and a deep mutual understanding, they are both happier than ever.

"I plan on taking him wherever else I can get him," his owner says, "because it’s really fun to have him around."
