My family used to have a cat that constantly smacked our dog in the face, and it was absolutely hilarious. Similarly, a cat named Woods has gained online attention after a viral video showed her teaching her new “bro” some boundaries.
In the video shared on TikTok by their owner, Woods can be seen slapping the dog, Seve, to establish personal space and teach him “manners”. Seve seemed unaware of the concept of personal space, so Woods had to react.
At first, Woods repeatedly slaps Seve to get her point across. But as the rescue dog learns to approach the cat slowly, Woods lowers her guard and shows him affection.
@koepkaandseve We work everyday with Seve on his relationships with all of our animals. We have a total of 5. All of them have learned to work and live together as a pack. Seve truly loves and cares about each of them. It is wonderful to see all of our rescues living together and forming bonds. 💕 #dog #dogsoftiktok #cat #catsoftiktok #animalsoftiktok #animalfriends #animallove #animallover #friendship #trust #family #fyp #love #belgianmalinois ♬ I Am Woman – Helen Reddy
The owner also mentions having other pets and working with Seve to improve his relationships with them. All their pets have learned to coexist harmoniously, and they hope Seve will fit right in.
It seems the cat was just trying to help teach him as well.
Seve is an adorable dog who genuinely cares about his new family. Interestingly, in this case, the student and the teacher share a special connection, most special of them all…
It’s truly wonderful how people give animals a chance and how much animals learn from us, especially cats and dogs. This patient cat took the time to teach her new furry sibling some boundaries, allowing them to live in harmony.
Contrary to the popular belief that cats and dogs are born enemies, they can actually live in harmony with each other.
However, introducing a new dog to your cat (and vice versa) can be a stressful experience. It’s important to take it slowly and plan ahead, as recommended by the Animal Humane Society.
Many dogs can successfully learn to be friends with felines. However, they may need some help learning how to act around cats. This could be why the kitty in the first video had to teach the dog a lesson.

You just have to be patient and introduce the two pets slowly. To successfully introduce a dog to your existing cat, follow these guidelines from the Animal Humane Society:
1. Set up a safe space for your cat with food, water, and a litter box.
2. Keep the cat and dog in separate rooms initially. Let the cat sniff the dog’s belongings beforehand.
3. During feeding time, place their bowls on opposite sides of a closed door, gradually moving them closer each day.
4. Train both pets with basic commands and reward them with treats.
5. Once they can eat peacefully near the door, start introducing them in a neutral area. Keep meetings short, use a leash for the dog, and end if there’s aggression.
6. Repeat introductions daily, provide treats, and stop any chasing or aggression.
7. Once they’re getting along, let them roam freely with the dog on a leash as a precaution. Go back to earlier steps if tension arises.
8. When you’re not around, separate the cat and dog until they become best friends. Check out the detailed steps here.
