Robert had no idea his world was about to change when he first saw Otis.

“When I met him he was the most incredible guy… After 15 minutes I just looked at him and said, ‘Oh man, you’re not a foster anymore, we’re going to stay together for the rest of your life.’”

Since then, their lives have become all about healing, joy, and rediscovery.

Otis has a special love for the ocean. It means freedom, the exact opposite of everything Otis had been through, as Robert shared:

“The ocean represents the ultimate freedom. I try to take him there three or four times a week. I I wanna make every day count as a day of beauty and joy and adventure filled with love and kindness.”

Every day is built around love and making Otis feel safe. That certainty, knowing he’s not going to be left behind or hurt again, has transformed him.

He walks with confidence now, like a king who finally found his throne. The routines, the walks, the cuddles, every little thing matters, as Robert explained:

“I believe that certainty over time has made him extremely relaxed and feeling like a king. The king that he was born to be.”

Sure, there were concerns at first. Robert worried about behavioral challenges, but they worked through it all together.

Otis turned out to be a gentle soul, strong but soft, and absolutely stunning. Robert sometimes calls him a warrior, not just for surviving, but for still being able to trust and love again.

Together, they’ve found purpose too. It’s not just about healing one dog; it’s about showing people the truth. About raising awareness for animals like Otis, who never had a voice.
