Florida Woman Follows A Black Pittie Into A Crawl Space And Finds The Sweetest Surprise Waiting

Some rescues begin with a cry for help. Others start with a feeling deep in your gut, that quiet pull telling you something just isn’t right.

That’s exactly how it was for Adriana Figueroa one day when her phone buzzed with a short but heavy message. A dog was out there on the streets and she wasn’t doing well.

Adriana didn’t need to read it twice. Her heart was already in rescue mode. She hopped into her car and headed straight to the neighborhood mentioned in the message.

Her eyes scanned every inch of the sidewalk and driveway. And there she was: a thin, black Pittie wandering the street like she had nowhere left to go but was still pushing forward.

Adriana followed quietly, not wanting to spook her. The dog seemed to know where she was going, and Adriana stayed just a few steps behind.

The dog didn’t look back. She kept walking until she ducked into a dark crawl space under a house. And that’s when things got really emotional.

At first, it was just one little face peeking out from the shadows. Then another. And another. In total, eight tiny puppies started to appear.

They were snuggled up in that cold crawl space, wagging, wiggling, and waiting for their mom. Their little eyes lit up the second she appeared.

Adriana could barely believe it. This poor girl, later named Veviana, had no food, no shelter, yet she’d been doing everything she could to protect her babies, all on her own.

Adriana had seen a lot in her rescue work with Women’s Volunteer Miami. But this? This especially touched her heart, as she shared in a YouTube video:

“It made me incredibly sad that she was alone. It was just her and her babies and she was just trying to find a place to keep them safe.”

She got down on the ground and began the slow, careful process of bringing the puppies out. But they didn’t make it easy.

Every time she reached in, they scurried deeper into the darkness. Veviana followed them protectively, always staying close.

After three hours, Adriana finally managed to pull out all eight puppies. But something told her not to take Veviana just yet.

There could still be one more hiding in there. So she gave the brave mama one more night.

And sure enough, when Adriana came back the next morning, Veviana was still there, and so was one more puppy, the last little piece of her puzzle, right by her side.

Now, with all nine pups accounted for, the little family was finally out of the cold. No more hiding, no more shivering in the dark.

Adriana brought them all home and for the first time in who knows how long, Veviana didn’t have to worry anymore. Her babies were safe. And so was she.

After a few days in foster care, help arrived from Big Dog Ranch Rescue. They welcomed the little family with open arms, ready to give them the fresh start they deserved.

Six of the puppies quickly found loving homes. Veviana and three of her little ones are still waiting, but hopefully not for long.

They’ve come such a long way from that dark crawl space. They’re strong, sweet, and full of love to give. Each one is just looking for that perfect person to call their own.

Veviana has given everything she had. Through the hardest days, she stayed strong for her babies, putting their needs before her own.

Now, it’s her turn to be loved and cared for. All she needs is someone to show her the same love she’s poured into her little family.

And when that moment comes, her heart will bloom.
