Missouri Residents Hear Cries Coming From Tornado Debris Then A Cute Head Pokes Out

Tornadoes can destroy everything, and while many people rush inside to shelter from the devastation, most animals are left to fend for themselves.
A similar situation occurred in St. Louis, Missouri, when a series of tornadoes tore through the area.
The residents quickly took cover, but when the storm cleared and they began to emerge, they heard unusual cries coming from a pile of fallen trees…

Determined to help, a few residents followed the cries and were shocked when an adorable little head popped out from the rubble.
To their surprise, it was an adorable but terrified pup. No one knew how she survived the tornado all alone without shelter, but they were happy she did.
The residents instantly contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis for help, and the team rushed to the scene. Needless to say, they were shocked. SRSL shared on their Facebook page:
“Behind an abandoned house, a dog was chained up with padlocks around her neck and trapped beneath fallen trees. She’s crying for help.”
The dog, later named LITA (short for Love Is The Answer), poked her head out again when she heard the rescuers approaching.
Though terrified, she couldn’t even run away, knowing she needed a helping hand. However, a further investigation revealed a harsh truth.

It turned out that LITA’s previous owner had tethered her to an immovable object with a padlocked chain around her neck.
That was the reason she couldn’t escape, but still, it was a miracle she survived. SRSL added:
“She’s been back there, so scared and all alone since Friday.”
During the rescue mission and further investigation, the team soon realized what had kept LITA alive. They shared:
“The fallen trees landed on old cars, and we believe that’s what saved her life.”
Slowly but surely, the rescuers approached LITA and tossed her a handful of tasty treats. Sooner than expected, they won her trust and began digging her out from the pile of trees.

Though shaken by the ordeal, LITA was surprisingly uninjured. She didn’t require much medical intervention after being rescued, but she needed one thing – lots of love.
LITA was taken to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, where she received all the necessary care, including plenty of love and attention.
After only a few weeks, she completely transformed and blossomed. And then, the most beautiful thing happened.
LITA received an adoption inquiry from a kind-hearted man. When he stopped by to meet her, the two instantly bonded.

Realizing they were a perfect match, the man soon signed her adoption papers. Later that night, LITA was on her way to her new home, with a person who will love her endlessly.
Though the tornadoes left LITA traumatized, with a loving human by her side and a forever home, she will soon forget the past and embrace the happy life she’s always deserved.
