Georgia Mechanic Follows Faint Cries And Discovers An Adorable Face Stuck In A Car Engine
Mechanics deal with car troubles every day, but this mechanic from Georgia, Sherwood Cooke Jr., owner of Royalty Auto Service, had to face a different kind of problem.
It all began when he received a call for help from a local dealership about an issue with a Mercedes-Benz.
The man initially thought it was a prank, but what Sherwood later discovered left everyone in shock.
Sherwood and his son took the car in and began inspecting it. While test-driving, they heard strange noises coming from the engine. Sherwood’s son said to him in a TikTok video:
“While test driving it, they said they heard a cat. I’m dead serious.”
Sherwood continued inspecting the car, waiting to hear the sounds they’d reported, but he couldn’t hear anything. He said:
“You would hear a cat if she was in there.”
Little did he know, he was wrong. Just seconds later, he heard faint cries for help, the sounds the others had mentioned.
Determined to uncover the truth, Sherwood shone a light into the Mercedes-Benz’s engine bay and saw a tiny gray face staring back at him.
To everyone’s surprise, it was a tiny kitten, frozen in fear, and no one knew how long it had been trapped there.
The frightened kitten hissed at the two men, but they didn’t take it personally. Instead, they immediately began their rescue mission. Sherwood comforted the kitten:
“Oh, you are in here. I do see you, and you’re in a bad spot. Oh, thank you for letting me hear you. I’d be scared, too.”
The poor kitten was trapped in a tight spot underneath the car’s hood, and it was impossible to reach her from above.
Sherwood and his son quickly decided to push the car into the garage and lift it so they could safely pull the kitten out from under the car’s undercarriage.
Though visibility was poor, Sherwood shoved his arm into the undercarriage and began searching for the kitten while comforting her with gentle words, encouraging her to cooperate.
Fortunately, after a few moments, Sherwood finally caught the kitten. He gently pulled her out until he was able to slip her free from her hiding place.
This unexpected rescue mission had a happy ending. Sherwood held the tiny kitten in his arms, and as soon as he saw her, he fell in love. Overjoyed, he said to her:
“Look at how pretty you are. A shop cat in the making.”
But the story doesn’t end there. Everyone at the shop quickly fell in love with the tiny kitten, including the shop’s resident dog, Tink.
As the kitten captured everyone’s hearts, the shop owners agreed to do something truly special – to keep her forever.
Before giving her a comfy place to stay, Sherwood took the kitten to the vet, where she received a thorough examination, necessary treatments, and, most importantly, a perfect name: Mercedes.
After that, she returned with her new humans to the car shop and started adjusting to her new life.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Mercedes to adjust to her new environment. Soon, she was spending her days at the shop with her “dad” and evenings with her new family, including their other cat, Maggie May.
Everyone is happy to have a new furry family member, especially Tink, who just can’t get enough of her.
What matters most is that Mercedes is now safe and has a family who will love and cherish her as she deserves.
