Working as a veterinarian in North Carolina, Aly had witnessed plenty of heartbreaking cases, but something about Kora struck a deeper chord.
It wasn’t even Aly’s shift when the urgent call came in: A young Great Pyrenees had been hit by a work truck.
The family who brought her in was heartbroken. Kora was meant to be their farm dog, but now, injured and fragile, she couldn’t fulfill that role anymore.

When Aly and her husband finally brought Kora home, there was one big adjustment: She had never been inside a house before.
Her life had always been outdoors. But the moment she stepped through the front door, she seemed like she’d always belonged.
She settled in quickly and was gentle with their cats. The couple had several rescue animals, and Kora embraced them all, soaking in the warmth of a family home.
At first, Kora couldn’t have many treats due to her medications. But as she recovered, they slowly started giving her small snacks.
