Hopeless Cat Spends Nearly 24 Days Stuck In A 100-Foot Tall Tree In Washington

Bella, a curious and spirited cat, nearly scared her owners out of their wits after getting trapped high in a massive tree for nearly a month.

It all started one evening when she scrambled up a 100-foot ponderosa pine near her home, most likely while trying to escape a coyote that had been seen roaming the area.

At first, her owners thought Bella would eventually make her way down on her own. But as days turned into weeks with no progress, their worry grew. Hoping to bring her back safely, they began reaching out to local tree services.

Unfortunately, the task proved more difficult than expected. Two local climbers attempted to help but couldn’t manage to reach Bella, leaving her family desperate for another solution.

One climber managed to start up the tree, but the dry, brittle branches kept him from getting very far.

Another team suggested trimming the branches, but that would have meant using a chainsaw – something certain to frighten Bella and possibly cause her to jump. Several more attempts were made by others, yet none were successful.

Finally, a specialist came to inspect the tree but, after assessing its age, height, and fragile condition, decided it was far too dangerous to attempt a rescue.

Bella’s family grew frantic, reaching out to fifteen more tree services, only to hear the same answer each time – no one was willing to risk the dangerous climb.

In the meantime, they did everything they could to keep her going. The first two climbers who had tried to reach her managed to place food close enough for Bella to eat, and little by little, she regained some strength.

Rainwater gave Bella just enough to stay hydrated, while her owners came up with inventive ways to keep her fed.

Using a fishing pole, they managed to send a line nearly 70 feet up the tree, attaching it to a cat carrier filled with food.

Bella eventually climbed inside to eat, but the carrier became lodged and couldn’t be brought down safely. After so many unsuccessful efforts, word of Bella’s plight finally reached Canopy Cat Rescue, who stepped in to help.

When the team arrived, they couldn’t see Bella right away – she was still curled up inside the cat carrier high in the tree.

The rescuers quickly came up with a plan and began their careful climb upward. Specializing in cat rescues, they skillfully made their way along the brittle branches until, at last, they reached her.

At first, Bella was tense and unsure, but she quickly settled down and allowed the rescuers to carefully gather her into their arms.

After offering Bella a little treat, the rescuers gently placed her in a cat bag and carefully worked their way back down the towering tree.

You can only imagine the joy and relief her family felt – after 24 long days, their beloved cat was finally safe.

Once on the ground, the rescuers advised bringing Bella inside before letting her out of the bag, ensuring she wouldn’t panic and run off again.

The family quickly saw that Bella was much thinner than before, which wasn’t surprising after nearly a month stuck in the tree.

They decided the first step would be to take her straight to the vet for a full check-up.

Canopy Cat Rescue had once again managed to save a cat in need, and seeing Bella safely back in the arms of her family made every effort more than worth it.
