California Rescuers In Disbelief After Finding Two Fragile Lives Abandoned In A Backyard

Here’s the touching story of two young cats whose bond is as strong as that of newborn siblings.

Meet Lestat and Laszlo, lovingly called the “cat bros.” Their journey started in a backyard, where they and their littermates were left on their own to survive.

Thankfully, the Orphan Kitten Club stepped in, rescuing them and giving their lives a brand-new beginning.

Lestat, the tiny kitten on the right, had the toughest start as the runt of the litter. By the time he was rescued and brought to the veterinary clinic, his condition was critical, and he needed urgent intensive care.

Their foster parent, Yige Zhao, worked tirelessly to give them the best chance, paying special attention to Lestat’s fragile health.

Throughout it all, Lestat never stopped seeking comfort from Laszlo, and Laszlo stayed right by his side, offering unwavering support. 

Lestat’s survival depended on Laszlo’s constant warmth and protection. In those fragile early days, a remarkable bond formed between them.

Whenever Lestat’s heartbeat grew faint, Laszlo would gently nudge him, and somehow those small pushes brought his brother’s heartbeat back to strength.

As Yige shared in an interview:

“I noticed that almost every time this happened. It was such a sweet and tender moment.”

Imagine witnessing one tiny feline breathe life back into another, seemingly lifeless fur baby. Truly incredible!

Thanks to Yige’s devoted care and Laszlo’s constant companionship, Lestat slowly grew stronger and eventually learned to drink from his own bottle.

He did face another challenge – a fever coat that left his fur gray from the hardships he had endured.

But as time passed and his health improved, the gray faded away, revealing his true coat color underneath.

All along the way, these two brothers stayed side by side, drawing strength from each other. Lestat followed closely behind Laszlo, copying his every move as they grew and learned together.

When the time finally came for adoption, luck was on their side – they were welcomed into a loving home that had plenty of space and hearts big enough for them both.

In their new home, the pair quickly made themselves comfortable, racing around with boundless energy and turning every corner into their playground.

On their very first morning, their forever human, Amy, woke up to find them happily tumbling and wrestling right on her bed.

Their excitement carried on through the morning as they chased, pounced, and played nonstop, until at last their energy ran out and they collapsed into a well-earned nap.

Then, nestled beside each other, they would drift into a peaceful slumber, often basking in the warm sunlight streaming through the window. As Amy lovingly describes:

“They love to cuddle while napping, right in front of the bright window from the highest perch on their tree.”

These two kittens had grown into striking cats, yet their bond remained as steadfast as when they were vulnerable newborns. Amy said:

“Laszlo is well above his weight class. He’s a hungry, chonky, and lovable cat who can’t wait to get his next cuddle and chin scratch. Lestat on the other hand can jump up on high counters. He’s thrown down a bag of hot dog buns and a bag of corn tortillas to his brother. Lestat is a wild child that aids his brother’s addiction to food.”

The two truly are the perfect pair! Laszlo, with his endless appetite, is always on the hunt for every scrap of food.

On the other hand, Lestat keeps things lively with his talent for opening cupboards and drawers, turning their kitchen time into little adventures.

Amy added:

“They are such sweet black cats, and they love each other so much. They play hard, fight, hug, and chill together as best friend cat brothers would.”

These handsome brothers also delight in life’s simple pleasures, spending hours at the window watching cars go by and birds flutter past.

Surrounded by their forever mom’s love and attention, they soak up every bit of affection, living each day with endless joy.
