Boston Dog Lover’s Life Completely Changes After Meeting A Special Cat
Meet Greg, a lifelong dog enthusiast whose life changed in the most unexpected way when a brave little cat named Mochi came along.
What started with a bit of hesitation quickly grew into a touching story of love and a bond he never imagined.
At first, Greg wasn’t sure what to expect from life with a cat. He had always heard the usual clichés about them being standoffish and cold.
But it didn’t take long for Mochi to prove him completely wrong – and what a wonderful surprise that turned out to be!

Mochi, once called Dollar, didn’t have the easiest beginning. She had lived with a family in Boston as a purebred, but when she developed a serious infection, she was taken to MSPCA, a local rescue.
During her recovery, she sadly lost her tail and part of one leg. It was around then that Greg and Natalia began their search to adopt a cat in need.
They received a call that they had been chosen to adopt Mochi, and Greg shared in a video:
“Natalia was yelling around the house. She was so happy, you know, and I was trying to be the cool, calm dad, and said ‘Well you know, let’s meet her first’. As soon as we walked in, we just fell in love immediately.”
The shelter workers were deeply moved, saying that Greg and Natalia had hit the jackpot with Mochi. Greg adds:
“People were tearing up, she had just had a huge impact and bonded with everyone around her.”
Only two months after bringing Mochi home, Greg could already see her incredible spirit shining through.
Despite everything she had endured, she was now full of energy and joy – healthy, playful, and brimming with affection.
“When we adopted her, she was just under two and a half pounds. She smelled like sulfur, but after a few weeks, she was totally fine.”
Greg couldn’t believe how quickly they bonded with their feline friend. He loves cuddling with her, playing together, and just reveling in all that Mochi brings to their lives.
A True Cat Lover
To Greg’s surprise, Mochi turned out to be quite the chatterbox, always eager to “talk.” Her physical challenges don’t slow her down one bit.
Though she can’t quite run in a straight line, she happily dashes around, hides, and plays as if nothing were missing.
Her curiosity seems endless, and to Greg and Natalia, she’s like a lively little puff of fur. They lovingly call her their “shapeless cat,” a nickname that perfectly captures both her fluffy look and her bendy, playful ways.
Greg never considered himself a cat person before; he was more of a lifelong dog lover. But look at him now, thinking about getting a “dorky see-through backpack” to take Mochi on walks. As he puts it:
“I was not a cat person before, would’ve definitely considered myself a dog person, but ever since adopting her, it’s been totally different. As soon as I wake up, the first thing I do is check on her, make sure she’s okay, that she’s got all her food and water.”
Congratulations, Greg! You’ve not only become a cat parent but also a devoted cat lover!

Natalia lovingly notes that everyone should be a bit more like Mochi, and Greg adds:
“She’s an absolute fighter. She is the strongest little kitty I’ve ever met. She’s been on planes, she’s been in a shelter for two months, and I think now having some stability in her life, she wants to show us how much she loves us.”
Cats have their own special ways of showing gratitude, especially when they’ve been rescued and given the chance to begin again.
