Los Angeles Aggressive Cat Missing Front Legs Softens After Meeting A Helpless Kitten

Meet Joey, a cat whose story proves that no matter how rough the beginning, love and patience can completely change a life.
Joey wasn’t just any rescue cat—he was born without front legs and grew up feral, making his journey even more challenging. When he was brought to Boomers Buddie Rescue in California, many assumed his aggressive behavior meant he would never adapt to a loving home.

But then came Grace Choi, the heart behind Kitty Boy and Friends. Grace had seen plenty of difficult cases, but something about Joey struck her.
Determined not to give up, she welcomed him into her care. At first, Joey hissed, growled, and tried to hide whenever anyone came near. His world had been filled with fear for so long, and trust wasn’t something he could give easily.
Grace, however, wasn’t afraid of his sharp edges. One day, she gently reached out and stroked his fur—fully prepared for him to lash out.

Instead, something extraordinary happened. Joey leaned into her hand. He liked it. For the first time in his life, he had felt safe enough to accept affection. That simple moment of contact marked the beginning of his transformation.
But Joey’s new fondness for humans didn’t seem to extend to other cats. Grace already had her own cat, Kitty Boy, and was constantly fostering new kittens. Watching Joey’s reactions, she worried he’d never accept feline companions.
“The way that he reacted to my cat Kitty Boy at first, I really didn’t think he’d get along with kittens,” Grace admitted in a video. “That was one of the reasons why I didn’t think I could keep him.”

Still, Grace didn’t give up. She slowly introduced Joey to the foster kittens, keeping her expectations low.
At first, it went exactly as she feared—lots of hissing and growling. Then, in a moment she’ll never forget, one tiny kitten waddled up to Joey and snuggled close. Instead of pushing the kitten away, Joey began to groom him. Grace describes it as “one of the most special moments I’ve ever experienced.”

That kitten cracked Joey’s heart wide open. From that moment, he became a doting foster brother. He bathed the kittens, snuggled them, and played with them as if he had always been meant to protect and love them.
Grace watched in awe as Joey transformed from a defensive, isolated cat into a nurturing figure who seemed happiest when surrounded by little paws.
“Joey has assumed the role of foster brother,” Grace said proudly. “The kittens really opened up a different world to Joey.”

Today, Joey thrives in the companionship of kittens who look up to him. He may have started life as a frightened feral cat, but thanks to Grace’s dedication—and the persistence of one brave little kitten—he now knows the joy of family.
Joey’s story is a powerful reminder: even the toughest walls can come down when love, patience, and second chances are given.
