LA Woman Shocked To Find Fragile Souls Wrapped In Thin Paper Towels And Left At Her Doorstep
Shelters and foster families encounter cases of abandoned and neglected cats nearly every day. But every so often, there are stories that reveal an even harsher side of cruelty, where the tiniest and most vulnerable are left in heartbreaking ways.
That’s what happened to the newborn kittens in today’s story. They were heartlessly dumped in front of a woman’s home, their fragile bodies wrapped in nothing more than thin paper towels.
The woman wasted no time and reached out to Wrenn Rescues, a Los Angeles-based rescue group. Because of their quick response, the three fragile kittens were given a real chance to survive.
Wrenn Rescues partners with many dedicated foster volunteers, but for this case, they turned to their youngest foster, Chris, who happens to be a true kitten expert.
Chris has been fostering since the age of 11, showing a level of dedication far beyond his years. If anyone deserves the title of foster hero, it’s him.
With his mom by his side, Chris hurried to collect the fragile kittens. As soon as they had the little ones in their care, it became clear that something was different.
One of the kittens was noticeably smaller and more delicate than her two ginger brothers. As Chris’s mom said in a post:
“They are so much smaller than we expected. The dark tabby is only 60g. We will do our very best to get them growing and thriving.”
The kittens were given sweet names to match their personalities: Bounty, Brawny, and Sparkle.
Sadly, Sparkle lagged far behind her brothers. While the boys fed eagerly and began putting on weight, their tiny sister wouldn’t take to the bottle at all.
For two long days, her foster parents carefully tube-fed her, refusing to give up. At last, Sparkle found the strength to latch onto the bottle, a small but hopeful step forward.
Most of the time, the three kittens stayed snug inside an incubator while their foster parents worked tirelessly to keep their tiny bellies full.
Still, nearly a week into their foster stay, the difference in size was clear. The two ginger boys had already reached about 140 grams, while little Sparkle struggled at only 85 grams.
Chris and his mom, Erin, quickly realized that Sparkle was a determined little fighter with an incredible will to live.
She worked tirelessly to catch up to her brothers, and before long, they were cheering her on as she finally reached the 100-gram milestone!
Shortly after, the siblings were ready to move out of the incubator! They were slowly becoming healthy, playful kittens, meaning the critical phase was officially over, as their foster parents mentioned in an update:
“They have officially graduated from the land of the incubator to the world of the playpen! Next up, the universe of the whole kitten room!”
The sweet trio eventually began learning how to use the litter box, though Sparkle was more interested in digging around than actually getting the hang of it.
Still, her cuteness made up for the mess, and her foster parents couldn’t help but smile at her playful attempts.
They also discovered the joys of the wipe warmer! Whenever Erin turned the wipe warmer on, the siblings would jump on top of it just to warm their chubby bellies up! So adorable, right?
Once these adorable fluffballs turned 5 weeks, it was all fun and games. They learned to play with toys and the joys of chasing each other around the playpen! As Erin shared in an update:
“Brawny, Bounty, and Sparkle are growing so fast! They turned 5 weeks yesterday and got a new igloo bed and a larger space with more toys!! They are already completely litter trained with no accidents!!”
From being left out in the cold with no chance of survival to blossoming into healthy, happy kittens, this little trio’s journey is nothing short of remarkable.
None of it would have been possible without the dedication and love of their foster parents.
Now, Bounty, Brawny, and Sparkle are safe, thriving, and waiting for the forever homes they deserve, all while soaking up the affection Chris and Erin give them every day.
