Wisconsin Horses Hilariously Keep Invading Their Owner’s House, And We Can’t Stop Laughing

Hermy isn’t just any horse. He’s clever, mischievous, and endlessly curious – a real troublemaker with a heart of gold.
The first time Hermy somehow managed to break into his owner’s house, everyone was stunned. How could he do it? The doors were locked, yet Hermy had other ideas.
He was strong, determined, and smart enough to figure out a way in, no matter what.

These days, it’s become a daily ritual. Hermy has a system. With a subtle twist of his lip, he nudges his way between the door handles and, just like that, he’s inside. His mom explained in a YouTube video how impressed she was with his ingenuity:
“He knows how to twist his lip and get it in between the two handles and then just – boom!”

The other horses quickly realised they could sit back and let Hermy do the work. Why struggle when the clever one opens the door for you?
Soon enough, they’re strolling in behind him, calmly taking in the room as if it were theirs all along.

It’s not unusual for their mom to feel a sudden gaze across the room.
Turning around, she’ll see three horses peering at her from the doorway, waiting patiently as though hoping for an invitation. With faces that sweet, how could anyone say no?

The herd clearly enjoys these little games. They love watching their humans just as much as their humans love watching them. Their mom shared:
“I think they really enjoy living with us cuz they can watch us and we can watch them and I think it’s entertaining for them.”

Living with horses is more than just a lifestyle, it’s a connection, a bond built on love and mutual understanding. It all began with Glytja, a strong-willed mare who captured the family’s hearts.
At first, she wasn’t living with them. Every visit felt too short, and the drive to see her an hour away became exhausting. Being apart simply never felt right.

That’s when the family realised that Glytja wasn’t just a visitor. She was part of their lives, meant to be around all the time. The solution was simple: they needed to live together.
They built a barn directly into the house, no barriers, no stalls, just a single door separating home and herd. As the owner explained:
“We built the house knowing that some things are going to get dinged up and that’s okay. We love it when they show their expressions and their personalities.”

Now, five horses live alongside the family, sharing every day through good times and bad. Their presence has been especially comforting during tough moments, including the owner’s battle with cancer.
“A lot of times when I would get done with chemo for my cancer I would just come home and just go sit out there with them because they just make you feel better… They just know if you need their love and support.”
At the end of the day, it’s not about the barn or the house. It’s about connection.
It’s about sharing your life with those who understand you, who offer comfort without a single word. With Hermy and his herd, the family has found exactly that. Isn’t that what home really is?
