Virginia Three-Legged Cat Finds His Perfect Match With Amputee Dad In A Story Meant To Be
Some rescue stories feel like fate had a hand in them, and this is definitely one of those.
A brave little cat named Wizard went through something no animal should ever endure, but his journey ended in the most beautiful way.
Wizard’s life changed forever after a car accident left him badly hurt. He was battered, hungry, and struggling to survive when he showed up at the back door of a kindhearted homeowner in Virginia.
Despite his fractured leg, head trauma, and painful scrapes, this sweet boy still greeted people with love and trust.
That’s how he ended up at the Lynchburg Humane Society, where the staff immediately fell for his resilience. They shared on Facebook:
“Our brave, three-legged friend Wizard has been through a lot. But even after being hit by a car things quickly started looking up for him the moment he arrived at LHS. He was battered and bruised but we jumped into action and nursed him back to health.”
Unfortunately, Wizard’s injuries meant that one of his legs had to be amputated, and that made finding a forever home even harder.
Cats with special needs often get overlooked, no matter how much love they have to give.
For 94 long days, Wizard waited. Families came and went, looking at other cats but passing him by. Staff knew he was something special, but it felt like the world just didn’t see him.
Then, finally, a light broke through. A family touched by his story stepped forward and sponsored his adoption fee.
That kindness opened the door to his future. The shelter shared:
“He was available for adoption for a while with little interest. Then a few weeks ago a family was touched by his story and was moved to sponsor his adoption fee (Thank you Moody Family).”
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Right after Thanksgiving, Wizard met the man who was destined to be his person.
And here’s where the story gets truly heart-melting: his new dad is also an amputee. The bond between them was instant, like they had been waiting for each other all along.
Jill Mollohan, the executive director of LHS, shared in an interview:
“We think it was love at first sight for both of them. They were immediately taken by his wonderful personality.”
The Lynchburg Humane Society shared Wizard’s story as part of their #FindHappiness initiative, which aims to inspire more adoptions during the holidays.
The internet quickly fell in love, flooding their page with comments celebrating Wizard’s happy ending. One person wrote:
“Missing a leg but not a heart! I love this!”
And another summed it up perfectly:
“It was meant to be.”
Two weeks later, Wizard’s new dad, Arnie, commented on that same post, saying:
“We were so lucky to have found Wizard…What an amazing friend he is turning out to be!”
Wizard may have lost a leg, but he gained something even greater: a forever family and a dad who understands him in a way no one else could.
