Cat Shows Up At Office Door In Illinois, Begging For Some Warmth In The Pouring Rain

One cold, rainy night, a little tabby decided to make his own luck. While most stray cats were stuck scavenging for food or shelter in miserable weather, this guy had a plan.

And it worked perfectly! Let me tell you all about it.

Kay was working late at her office when she heard a desperate meow outside her door. She followed the sound and found a soaking wet cat, shivering and pleading to be let in.

Not sure what to do at first, Kay called her roommate, Lauren, for backup. The moment Lauren arrived, she knew there was only one thing to do: bring him home and keep him safe.

She gave him a warm bath, dried him off, and watched as he cautiously explored his new temporary home.

The poor little guy was in rough shape. He was skinny, hungry, and dehydrated, eating his first meal in what felt like forever in a matter of minutes.

It was clear he needed more care, and the roommates started talking about taking him to a proper rescue.

But then something happened that made everyone’s hearts melt: the tabby chose his person.

He crawled right into Lauren’s lap, buried his face in the blanket, and fell asleep as if he’d been waiting for her all along.

It was in that moment that Lauren knew he wasn’t going anywhere. This little cat had picked his family, and they were going to give him the love he’d been missing, as she shared in a YouTube video:

“He crawled right in my lap, and I knew he was mine.”

They named him Chuck, after the CEO of the company where he’d first appeared, and took him to the vet for a full checkup.

The vets estimated he was between one and three years old and had likely been living on the streets for some time.

But there was more bad news. Chuck had an abscess from a bite wound and a broken back leg that needed amputation.

Despite everything he’d been through, the kitty remained sweet, calm, and incredibly trusting. He went through surgery and started his recovery, adjusting to life on three legs.

Lauren couldn’t believe the progress he was making. He was moving faster than when she first found him. It was incredible to watch him grow stronger and more confident with each passing day.

As he recovered, Chuck’s true personality started to bloom. He turned into a full-on cuddle-bug, always snuggling as close as he could get, curling up on Lauren’s chest, and letting her know when he wanted attention.

No personal space for this little guy! He made it clear that being near his human was the best place in the world.

Every day with Chuck became a little adventure full of trust, love, and silly mischief. He’d play, explore, and then flop down for some serious lounging, always sneaking in a cuddle whenever he could.

Chuck’s favorite things in life are simple and perfect: cuddles, cozy naps, and of course, food.

Watching him enjoy all these little pleasures makes Lauren fall for him even more every single day.

Her life now revolves around Chuck, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She wakes up early to feed him, spends time bonding, and enjoys every silly, loving moment with her chosen furry friend, sharing:

“I don’t know what I did to become chosen by him… But I love being his human.”

Chuck didn’t just find shelter that rainy night. He found a home, a family, and a human who adores him as much as he adores her.
