Missouri Baby Camel Says The Sweetest “Hey” Ever Caught On Camera And The Internet Loses It

You know how sometimes the internet just stops for a second because something way too cute shows up on our screens?

Well… that’s exactly what happened when a tiny baby camel casually said “hey,” like he was greeting his fans. And honestly? People couldn’t handle it in the best way.

But behind that viral moment is a guy whose whole life has been shaped, and honestly saved, by the animals he loves.

Flaire Ferrell, a camel farmer from southeast Missouri, wasn’t expecting anything wild to happen when he shared a TikTok of his baby camel Faye letting out that adorable “hey.”

He shared in an interview:

“So that is not really an uncommon thing for camels, it’s just a sound that they make.”

But then the views exploded… and suddenly the whole world was obsessed with his entire camel crew.

And Faye isn’t even the only chatterbox around there. Another camel, Georgia, can actually say “hi” on command.

Like… imagine a camel politely greeting you. I’d pass out.

Ferrell says young camels make these higher, shorter little sounds that can almost sound human.

As they grow, those voices turn into deeper grumbles, but little Faye’s “hey” is just part of her charm, as Ferrel said:

“That just seems to be Faye’s voice, I guess.”

His love for camels didn’t just appear out of nowhere. It started several years ago, when he was only 15 and spotted a classified ad for a camel. And somehow, that one moment changed everything.

Since then, he’s owned nearly 60 camels altogether, with 21 currently living with him on his Missouri farm, as he explained:

“I absolutely fell in love just with the species alone, and here I am going on 11 years now of owning camels, and they’ve just become like my passion.”

But raising camels isn’t just sunshine and baby “heys.” It’s a lot of work, especially when it comes to parasites and trying to find vets who actually know how to care for camels.

Still, for Ferrell, the good massively outweighs the hard parts. He even calls what he does a “triple win situation”, sharing:

“If I can make an animal’s life happy, I can make someone else’s life happy with that animal, and then lastly, I can benefit financially from it.”

And his bond with these animals runs way deeper than most people realize. According to Ferrell, his camels have saved his life.

He once had a camel named Roman, who became his best friend until he sadly passed away.

That loss shattered him, but it also made his connection with the rest of the herd even more meaningful.

Ferrell says the secret to raising baby camels isn’t fancy training: it’s love. Patience. Just being there. He said:

“I just go out there and give them love for the first couple months, just you know, a lot of just hanging out in the pen with them without trying to handle or work with them and get them accustomed to me.”

And those viral “hey” and “hi” moments? Totally natural. No coaching, no tricks, just camels being their adorable selves.

The farm isn’t only camels, either. Ferrell has cared for everything from emus and kangaroos to donkeys, chickens, horses, pigeons, cattle, and even a rescued potbelly pig. Still, the camels are the center of his heart.

One thing he really hopes people learn from all this viral attention is that camels aren’t the grumpy spitters people imagine, as he shared:

“A lot of people have a misunderstanding of camels, they think they’re mean and they spit, and most generally they’re not if they’re properly taken care of.”

At the end of the day, Ferrell just hopes people see camels the way he does: gentle, loving, intelligent, and full of personality.
