LA Woman Kept Hearing Faint Cries In Her Neighborhood, So She Went To Investigate

For days, Jamie Orozco kept hearing faint cries in her Los Angeles neighborhood. Then one day, she decided to investigate.

She spent hours following the soft sounds whenever she could. Eventually, the cries grew louder, leading her to a porch nearby.

There, alone and shivering from the cold, sat a fragile little kitten, just a few weeks old.

Without hesitation, Jamie scooped him up and took him home, ready to give him the life and love he so desperately needed.

Knowing she couldn’t do it alone, she called on her friends Angelica Perez and Aaron Gray for support. Together, they began bottle-feeding the kitten and showering him with love.

Aaron later admitted the experience opened his eyes, as he shared in an interview:

“In the couple days I had him I learned a bit about the effort involved in rescuing a bottle-feeding kitten. I have a ton of respect for the people who do this for more than just one kitten.”

Despite their best efforts, the friends realized they couldn’t provide the round-the-clock care the little one needed. That’s when they reached out for extra help.

Jamie and her friends contacted Wrenn Rescues, a local animal rescue group, and soon volunteer foster Ashley Kelley stepped in. Ashley welcomed the kitten into her home and gave him the name Bartholomew, a big name for a tiny but brave little soul.

Although he was around six weeks old, Bartholomew was much smaller than expected, closer in size to a three-week-old kitten. But what he lacked in size, he made up for with personality.

Bartholomew quickly became a favorite in Ashley’s home. He loved cuddles, eagerly played with her other cats, and charmed everyone with his affectionate nature. Ashley described their first meeting fondly:

“He climbed right up my shirt and licked my nose when I got in my car with him. He is the sweetest little guy I’ve ever met, and he’s very cuddly. He has already got me wrapped around his little toe beans.”

His appetite was just as strong as his spirit. He enjoyed holding Ashley’s hand while eating, a small but sweet reminder of the bond he was forming with his foster mom.

From the moment Jamie first heard his cries to the day Bartholomew found safety in Ashley’s arms, this little kitten’s life was transformed by kindness. 

He went from shivering alone on a porch to being surrounded by people who cared deeply about his survival.

Thanks to Jamie, Angelica, Aaron, Ashley, and the team at Wrenn Rescues, Bartholomew discovered that the world can be a safe, warm, and loving place.

This tiny kitten may have started life in hardship, but now he’s thriving, proof that even the smallest rescue can make the biggest difference.
