Blind Kittens In Pennsylvania Can’t Bear To Be Apart And Have The Cutest Method To Reunite

Being a cat parent is already a lifelong commitment filled with ups and downs, but when it comes to raising a disabled kitten, the responsibility feels even heavier.

It takes more patience, more courage, and definitely a lot more heart.

Nicole, like many people, once thought she wasn’t cut out for that kind of challenge. She believed adopting disabled kittens would be too hard, maybe even impossible for her.

But then George and Hamilton came into her life, and something inside told her she had to try. She shared in a YouTube video:

“The first day when I brought them home, I honestly thought I couldn’t do it.”

The two tiny ginger boys were only about four weeks old when she rescued them, and their little eyes were badly infected.

Most kittens wouldn’t have survived something like that without immediate help.

Nicole’s heart broke for them, and instead of turning away, she made a decision that would change not only their lives but hers as well.

George and Hammy might have lost their vision, but they never lost their spirit. Blind cats have an incredible way of adapting, using their sharp senses to navigate the world, and these two proved that right from the start.

Like any other kittens, they were playful, curious, and constantly on little “adventures.” Nicole noticed right away how confidently they moved around their environment, sharing:

“Their demeanor was incredible. You would never know that they were blind.”

They quickly figured out how to climb to the top of the cat tree and, even more impressively, how to get back down.

They’d shuffle backwards, letting out the cutest little squeaky noises as if announcing, ‘Watch out, here we come!’

Nicole used to worry they’d hurt themselves, but she soon realized her boys were cleverer than she gave them credit for, as she shared:

“I was scared that they were going to get hurt. Obviously, I was wrong ‘cause they’re so smart.”

And the most adorable thing was their connection; the way they were always together.

When they get separated, they would chirp out soft meows, like their own version of echolocation, until they find each other again. Nicole shared:

“They do this cute little chirping meow to find each other. I call it echo locating.” 

It was as if they built a secret language that only the two of them shared.

Because they were still so small when Nicole first took them in, surgery wasn’t an option right away.

But as they grew, they went through three surgeries that helped them heal and live more comfortably. Nicole never left their side through any of it.

Today, the two brothers are thriving. Hammy is the sweetheart of the duo, as Nicole shared:

“He wants to be friends with anyone that walks in this house. When we bring new fosters in, he’s immediately their best friend.”

George, on the other hand, has earned the nickname “the Golden Retriever of kittens.” He’s playful, full of energy, and would happily spend his entire day chasing toys if he could.

Looking back, Nicole can hardly believe she once doubted herself. These two brothers have become such a huge part of her life that she can’t imagine a world without them.

It’s amazing to see how love and a little bit of faith can turn fear into something so beautiful.

George and Hammy may be blind, but that hasn’t stopped them from living a happy, playful, and full life.

And Nicole, the woman who once wondered if she could handle it, ended up being the luckiest one of all.
