California Rescuers Stunned To Discover Mother Cat And Her 4 Unique Kittens

It began with a simple discovery that quickly turned into a life-altering rescue. A lovely furry family was found, huddled together and uncertain about their future.

The kind-hearted individuals who came across them reached out to Laura Malone, the director of Mini Cat Town in San Jose, California. 

With the help of her dedicated team, the mother cat and her four rare kittens were safely brought to the city shelter.

The origins of this furry family remained a mystery, but Laura noticed a few key things. She observed:

“Given her weight and her friendliness, I can assume she was cared for regularly by a human, but her paw pads are dry like a cat who has spent quite a bit of time outdoors.”

When the rescue team finally found the family, they were amazed.

The mother cat was black, but all four of her kittens had beautiful, rare chocolate or cinnamon-brown coats.

This unusual fur color is the result of a genetic mutation in the black color gene. As Laura pointed out, this is quite rare, especially in cats from shelters or rescues.

The litter consisted of four little girls – two with sleek, solid coats and two adorned with adorable white socks and delicate markings on their faces and chests. 

Their noses and tiny toe beans were a soft pinkish-brown, hinting that their fur might not darken like their mother’s black coat. 

Instead, they could keep their rare chocolate or cinnamon coloring – a shade that’s both unique and hard to find in the feline world. 

If their coats stay this way, these kittens will grow into truly one-of-a-kind beauties.

When Mars, the mother cat, first arrived at the shelter, she was nervous and frightened. However, she soon adjusted when she realized she and her kittens were in a safe place.

Laura shared her observations, saying:

“The first night, she was growling so much at every noise and movement, making unwavering eye contact, and standing so defensively. After a little while, I realized she was just being vocal by letting me know she was scared and feeling protective of her kittens, but she herself wanted human interaction and pets.”

Over time, Mars grew more comfortable and even allowed her foster family to help care for her kittens: Hershey, Twix, Baby Ruth, and Reese.

Thanks to Mars and the kind people who cared for them, everyone was thriving and feeling content.

The kittens grew quickly and were always eager to explore. As Laura described:

“Hershey has a big old round head. Baby Ruth is the smallest and has a narrower face and more almond-shaped eyes. Twix has a little white chin. Reese has a white spot near her nose and is so far the most outgoing of the kittens – always the first to venture to the open door.”

However, these unique kittens weren’t the only ones who improved. Their mother, Mars, also transformed and turned out to be a big love-bug who adored attention. Laura said:

“When she first arrived, I made it a habit to always say, ‘Hello Mama,’ when I opened the door. I wanted her to get used to the sound of my voice. Now, when I enter the room, her head pops up out of the carrier, and she comes running out to greet me!”

Laura also added:

“I can tell Mars is the kind of Mom who wishes her babies would always stay little, but these kittens are starting to be on the go!”

The best part about the kittens was that they were going to keep their unique coat color. They were growing quickly, but their beautiful coloring remained the same. 

It was clear that these four special kittens and their sweet mom, Mars, would find loving forever homes in no time.

From an uncertain start, Mars and her rare kittens found safety and love, blossoming into a joyful family. 

Their journey is a hopeful reminder that every animal deserves a chance to thrive.
