Destiny Brings Cat With A Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome To A Woman With The Same Condition

Today feels like the perfect time to share a heartwarming feline story. Meet Bubbles, a beautiful California-born cat with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) who’s now living her very best life in the bustling heart of New York City.

Her rare condition may make her skin extra delicate, but it hasn’t stopped her from becoming the picture of feline glamour. With her stylish wardrobe, cosy bed, and doting humans, Bubbles has fully embraced her role as a pampered city cat, strutting around like she owns every inch of her apartment.

You might be wondering how this glamorous West Coast kitty made her way to the East Coast’s most famous city. Well, her journey from sunny California to the bright lights of New York is just as special as she is — and it’s a tale worth telling.

For those who may not be familiar, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a condition characterized by a deficiency in collagen, the protein molecule responsible for providing strength and elasticity to the skin and ligaments. 

This genetic disorder, also known as Feline cutaneous asthenia (FCA), results in skin that is abnormally droopy or overly stretchy, making it more delicate, fragile, and prone to tears and cuts.

Being born with this challenging skin condition has presented its share of difficulties for little Bubbles, but she has faced them with remarkable resilience. 

And why wouldn’t she? After losing her first home, she found refuge at the Best Friend Animal Sanctuary she was showered with care and treated like royalty from day one.

Around the time Bubbles arrived at the sanctuary, another cat with EDS, named Toby, was making waves on social media. 

Toby’s story helped raise awareness about EDS in cats, showing that despite their condition, they can lead joyful lives. 

Inspired by Toby, Bubbles quickly gained attention online, sparking interest from potential adopters.

While many were curious about the care Bubbles would need, fearing they may not be fit for the challenge, one New Yorker, Cici Ogden, felt a special connection. 

Cici, who also lives with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, knew immediately that Bubbles was meant to be her cat. 

She reached out to the sanctuary, and soon Bubbles was on her way to her new home in the Empire City.

Bubbles and Cici hit it off right from the start. Bubbles quickly became Cici’s shadow, proving they were a match made in heaven. 

Cici even created Bubbles’ very own Instagram profile, to share her journey and her spunky personality with the rest of the world.

Today, Bubbles is living the dream: She’s got all the cozy blankets, stylish outfits, and even spa days for her nails she could want. She loves snuggling with her amazing mom any time, any place.

And what about Cici? She’s just thrilled to have such a special cat in her life. Their connection, partly thanks to Instagram, feels like destiny.

From Los Angeles to New York, Bubbles has spread her charm nationwide. It’s wonderful to see her find such a loving home with Cici.
