As cat parents, we do everything in our power to make our feline companions happy. Whether it’s toys, treats, or comfy beds they get everything a cat could wish for.
If you are a busy person like myself, you know the heart-wrenching feeling of leaving your cat home alone all too well.
I recently even bought a living room camera just to make sure my rescue cat Beans is doing fine when I’m away.
A recent video I stumbled upon, however, made me question everything I know about cats. I always thought cats were the most independent pets and they had no problem being the only pet in the household.
However, one woman shared her story which left me speechless. So let’s get into it!
She shared her home with her ginger feline for six years. He was an adorable rescue who had the luck to find his forever home.
In those six years, the owner never assumed that her cat was lonely. He never showed any signs of sadness or something similar.
That’s until last year when he all of a sudden stopped playing as he used to and seemed kind of distant. Naturally, she rushed him to the vet but it seemed her feline friend was perfectly healthy.
Her vet advised her to maybe rescue another cat to keep him company. So she decided to tackle fostering!
She signed up as a foster volunteer in her local shelter and they immediately introduced her to three adorable kittens.
At first, her ginger cat was not that happy. He couldn’t quite figure out how to approach these little kittens, so he kept his distance.
He observed them from far away, while the kittens played with toys and enjoyed the warmth of their foster home.
It took him a couple of days to build up the courage and start playing with the kittens, and this is when his personality completely changed.
He became the playful cat his owner remembered from before and revealed his soft side. The sweet ginger boy became like a dad to the foster kittens, constantly watching over and grooming them!
It’s just unbelievable to think how these three kittens completely changed his life for the better. It proves to us that cats do need a companion to play with!
I’m so happy his mom decided to tackle fostering and bring some happiness into his life!
