That’s exactly what happened to Imgur user theacaciasteph, whose ginger cat, Wilbur, didn’t just settle into his new home; he took over.

Now he follows his mom everywhere, supervises her every move, and acts like the tiny, furry boss of the house.

From the moment Wilbur set his paws in his new home, he started staring at his mom almost immediately.

It was clear he had picked his favorite human, and he wasn’t letting her out of his sight, as she shared in an interview:

“My newly adopted cat Wilbur won’t stop staring at me. Soon after he came home he started staring. And he follows me around but not my husband.”

It turned out that Wilbur’s previous owners hadn’t given him up because of anything he’d done wrong. They simply didn’t want him anymore.

But now, in his new home, Wilbur makes it his mission to ensure his mom never feels even a hint of loneliness.

He waits patiently by the door, somehow recognizing the sound of her car pulling in. And when she leaves for work, he doesn’t hold back his feelings. He shoots her a look that could melt steel, like he’s saying, “How could you leave me like this?”
