Cat Spends Months Trapped All Alone In A Closed Brooklyn Dry Cleaner
Recently, a dramatic rescue mission unfolded in Brooklyn when the Greenpoint Cats rescue team received a message about a cat trapped inside a closed dry cleaner.
The most heartbreaking part was that the cat had spent months living alone in the abandoned store, surrounded by garbage, with nothing to eat…
This heartbreaking situation was only made worse by the fact that no one seemed to be looking out for the poor feline, leaving it to fend for itself in harsh conditions.
The poor feline had been living in horrible conditions, desperately meowing for help, until kind passersby heard his cries.
Determined to help, they quickly contacted Greenpoint Cats, and the team immediately rushed to rescue him.
Not only was the team determined to save the helpless cat, but they also decided to investigate what had happened.
What they discovered was nothing short of heartbreaking. They shared in an interview:
“The owners shut down and left him behind. He spent months trapped inside the abandoned store.”
The poor cat struggled to survive, and no one wanted to help until the Greenpoint Cats team stepped in. They added:
“No one would help this cat. So, together with a team of dedicated rescuers, we got him out.”
Thanks to the dedicated team, the cat, later named OMG (short for ‘Oh Em Gee’), was finally safe.
Even though the harsh days were behind him, the period left significant consequences. OMG was underweight and covered in ringworm, a treatable skin condition.
However, what surprised his rescuers was his incredible will to live. OMG was placed in a foster home, ready to start his journey to recovery.
His caretaker welcomed him with open arms and created a comfortable space for him to heal.
It didn’t take OMG long to adjust to his new life. He spent days eating, resting, and showing gratitude to his caretaker.
In just a few weeks, OMG was unrecognizable. His caretaker shared:
“He’s safe, well-fed, and settling into a good life in a foster home. His life looks very different now.”
His body was now covered with a beautiful, glossy coat, and he had gained a lot of weight. In addition to his physical transformation, OMG also began showing his true personality.
He became a joyful and affectionate feline, constantly enjoying the attention of his caretakers, and most of all, belly rub sessions. The caretaker added:
“He’s as loving as he is playful, as cute as he is friendly. It’s as if he’s living each day to make up for the hard ones that are behind him.”
Besides learning how to thrive, OMG constantly follows his people and is always ready to play or cuddle.
When he’s not doing that, he’s zooming around or chasing his ‘prey,’ showcasing incredible hunting skills.
OMG’s beautiful eyes are now full of life. Once forgotten and left alone to fend for himself, he now lives a beautiful life with a team of dedicated volunteers.
The only thing left is for him to find a loving forever home. But given his adorable looks and personality, I’m sure he’ll capture someone’s heart in the blink of an eye.
