Have you ever thought that your pet could be more than just a cute buddy? Well, Oggy, a cat from Minnesota, might just change your perspective. This sweet kitty recently got attention for his amazing ability to sense his owner’s breast cancer.
We usually think of dogs as having a super sense of smell, but cats are pretty good at it too! In fact, their noses can be 9 to 16 times more sensitive than ours! They can sniff out all sorts of things.
That’s how one day Oggy, who is very loving, started acting a bit differently. He began to cuddle with his owner, Kate King Scribbins, more intensely than usual.
At first, Kate thought it was just Oggy’s normal cuddly behavior, but soon she noticed a pattern.
So, Kate started to wonder if Oggy was trying to communicate something important. She saw that he was especially interested in her left breast.
Several months passed and there was no change in Oggy’s behavior. Then one day, Kate started to feel a sudden, sharp pain in her left breast. When she finally did a self-exam, she discovered a lump.
After going through some tests, Kate found out she had Stage 3 breast cancer. Her life changed completely, as she had to go through chemotherapy, several surgeries, and radiation.
But now, she believes that Oggy’s strange behavior was a warning that something was wrong.
Experts say that pets can often sense illnesses in their owners. They can pick up on tiny changes in body odor that we might not notice.
Luckily, this turned out well for Kate because she is now in remission. She is really thankful to Oggy for saving her life and feels super grateful for her pet’s amazing instincts.
So, the next time your cat seems overly curious about a certain part of your body, don’t just think they’re being nosy. It could be a sign that something isn’t right. Who knows, maybe your pet could be the next amazing medical hero!
