Cleo isn’t just any cat. She’s the queen of the neighborhood, known for regularly taking trips around town and having a fan club, a Facebook page, and an adventurous spirit that keeps everyone entertained.
But even her owner, Carly Thomson, never knows what to expect from Cleo’s escapades. Like the time the police knocked on Carly’s door, with Cleo in their arms after a spontaneous adventure she never saw coming.

One rainy day, Cleo got into a bit of a situation. She wasn’t about to let a bit of bad weather stop her from exploring, so when she spotted a car parked nearby with the door wide open, she figured, why not?
It seemed like the perfect spot to take shelter. Without hesitation, this fearless explorer just hopped right into a police car, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
The officers, probably more than a little surprised when they turned around and saw a fluffy Maine Coon lounging in the backseat, must have been caught off guard. I mean, who wouldn’t be?
But instead of shooing her away like most people would, they decided to play it cool. They figured, what’s the harm in giving her a lift?
Moments later, Carly heard an unexpected knock at her door. She opened it, and there stood the police with Cleo in their arms.
She was both shocked and worried, as she shared in an interview:
“I thought she was hurt. I thought something had happened. You don’t get the police bringing cats home because they jumped in their car! It was a very surreal moment for me. I was quite taken aback by it – I thought I was in trouble.”
The officers explained that her mischievous cat had simply decided to go for a ride. They had scanned her microchip, tracked down her home, and personally delivered her back.
If that wasn’t enough of a surprise, the next day, Carly was tagged in a Facebook post with Cleo lounging in the back of the police car.
The post, shared by the police department, described how their routine patrol had taken an unexpected turn when Cleo decided to hop into their car to escape the rain.
According to the cops, she made herself right at home, sharpening her claws on the seats, grooming herself on the parcel shelf, and even kneading their laps. She was totally relaxed and enjoying the ride, as they shared:
“It looks like Cleo enjoyed her little adventure with us, and we were more than happy to have her company!”
The internet went wild. Over 9,000 people liked the post, with comments pouring in. Some called it ‘community policing at its best,’ while others joked that the officers were just lucky Cleo allowed them to borrow her car for a while.
The whole incident made Carly realize just how much of a local celebrity Cleo has become. People know her. They love her. And now, thanks to her unexpected police escort, even more people are following her adventures, as Carly shared:
“It’s madness, my phone is blowing up. I was on the radio, it’s gone mad! She’s a very famous cat.”
Carly even considers turning Cleo’s escapades into a children’s book because if this cat has proved anything, it’s that she is far from ordinary!
