One day a distressed woman called a rescue organization with an unusual request. She begged them to help her rescue a cat trapped in a sewer.
This was not the first time this rescue organization helped a trapped cat, but what left them baffled was what they learned once they met with the woman.
She told them that the first time she heard desperate meows coming from under the manhole cover was more than 2 months ago!
The rescuers were initially shocked as she explained what had happened before they finally answered her plea for help.
Every time she tried reaching out to a local shelter for help, the cat would disappear and the previous rescuers were not equipped to help.
The woman searched for days for a rescue group capable of helping the poor cat. In the meantime, she had to make sure the poor thing didn’t starve in the sewer.
Every day she would come and drop a small bag of dry food through the manhole cover. The next day she would come back to check if the bag was still there.
Whenever she saw the bag empty, it was her sign the cat was still inside. Luckily, the rescue team that answered her plea for help was more than equipped and willing to help.
They immediately put small cameras through the manhole cover, hoping to catch the cat’s whereabouts on video.
That same night, they got an alert from their camera system. A pair of frightened, shining eyes was gazing straight into the camera.
The rescuers were relieved the cat was still there and they decided to come out the next morning and start their rescue mission.
However, just minutes later, heavy rain started pouring. They knew the sewer system would be flooded by the morning and the rescuers became desperate.
Although it was late at night, they decided to go and check if the cat was right there under the manhole cover.
Unfortunately, once they arrived they could only hear the water flooding the sewer system.
Needless to say, the rescuers were devastated. They went home, hoping that the cat found some sort of shelter inside.
Fortunately, the rain stopped and the rescuers came early in the morning to try and locate the cat. They opened the manhole cover and placed the camera inside.
Seconds later, the distressed cat was captured on camera, hiding in one of the sewer’s tunnels.
The rescue team immediately went into action. They removed the manhole cover and jumped into the sewer system, ready to save the poor cat.
Once the cat noticed the two men, the poor soul went into full panic mode. She had no idea they were her ticket out of that awful place, so she went into hiding.
They had to make sure to approach her slowly and capture her fast, as they didn’t want to stress her even more.
Luckily with many rescue missions under their belts, they swiftly caught the poor soul. She was drenched, scared, matted, and dirty. They had to transport her to the nearest vet office as soon as possible.
Surprisingly the cat was in perfect health. The vet was stunned by the amazing state of her kidneys and lungs, considering how long she was trapped.
They made sure to find her a cozy and warm spot in the shelter, where she could decompress and adjust to her new surroundings.
Thanks to the kind woman who never gave up on her and fed her every day, this cat got another opportunity in life!
