Colorado Family Watches In Disbelief As Tiny Kitten Chases Away A Pack Of Coyotes
It all started when Jasmine and her family decided to check their home’s security cameras, expecting the usual uneventful footage.
But as the video played, their stomachs dropped. It captured a tiny stray kitten sneaking into their yard at night.
Soon after, a group of coyotes appeared. What happened next was so incredible that they had to watch the footage again just to make sense of it.
That tiny kitten puffed herself up, let out a fierce hiss, and sent the coyotes running away! The predators didn’t stand a chance against this little warrior.
Jasmine could hardly believe what she saw, sharing in a YouTube video:
“She let out a very mighty hiss and she was able to scare off a pack of coyotes. When we saw the footage the next morning, it was like a pit in the stomach.”
The family was in awe of the kitten’s courage, but also deeply worried. The thought of her being alone out there, surrounded by danger, was too much.
So they rushed outside to search for her. To their relief, she hadn’t gone far. With a little patience and a humane trap, the family managed to bring her to safety.
When she stepped out of her crate, everything changed. Gone was the fierce fighter from the footage, and in her place was a sweet, affectionate kitten.
She immediately rubbed against Jasmine’s legs and gazed up with soft, trusting eyes. Jasmine shared:
“That moment that she stepped out of the crate, we saw how sweet and affectionate she was. She just seemed, like, so grateful.”
A vet visit revealed she had no microchip, and at just seven months old, she was still very young. Despite everything she had been through, she radiated energy and love.
Her adjustment to life indoors was smoother than anyone expected.
Within days, she was exploring every corner of the house, cuddling with Jasmine’s dad, and even making fast friends with their resident cat, Mocha.
At first, Jasmine and her mom were sure they wanted to keep her, but her dad wasn’t convinced.
But as time went on, his resolve started to crumble. Jasmine would catch him smiling while watching her play, or take photos of her on his phone.
One day, he even suggested a name: Chai. That was when Jasmine and her mom knew that the kitten would stay with them for good.
Today, Chai and Mocha are inseparable, and her bond with Jasmine’s dad is undeniable.
Jasmine shared:
“Looking at her now, the way that she interacts with Mocha and with my dad, she’s permanently a part of our family.”
It’s hard to believe that the same kitten who once stood her ground against a pack of coyotes now has a home filled with love.
She has humans who adore her, a feline sister to wrestle and nap with, and a dad who once swore he wouldn’t keep her but now can’t imagine life without her.
