Virginia Dog Dumped In Parking Lot With Her Possessions And A Note That Broke Rescuers’ Hearts

That’s exactly what happened to Princess, a senior Poodle from Virginia and the canine hero of today’s story.
She gave her whole life to her family, only to be left behind, wondering why the people she trusted most walked away when she needed them most.
Left With Her Belongings And A Goodbye Note
Sweet Princess was abandoned in the parking lot of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in Virginia, left with all her belongings by her side.
The moment shelter staff spotted her, they rushed out to her aid.
Lying there, heartbroken and confused, Princess rested among her familiar things, still waiting for the person who never came back.
That’s when the team found a note that shattered their hearts. In it, her former owner asked the shelter to put Princess down and to donate her belongings to someone else.
But the staff knew that wasn’t going to be her fate. Without hesitation, they gently brought Princess inside, where she was met with love, compassion, and immediate care.
The team took her straight to the vet, who gave her a full exam and estimated she was around 16 years old, suffering from advanced kidney disease.
Because the shelter didn’t have the resources to provide the care she needed, Princess was transferred to Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue in Virginia, where her journey to healing could truly begin.
She Finally Felt Safe And Loved Again
The rescue team went above and beyond to help Princess feel safe and loved.
Surrounded by gentle care and kindness, the sweet senior pup slowly started to come out of her shell and accept the affection she had longed for.
Due to her age and kidney condition, Princess was placed in hospice care. Thankfully, she wasn’t in much pain, but the emotional weight of being abandoned still lingered.
The staff could sense her sadness and made it their mission to fill her days with warmth and comfort.
Bit by bit, they watched her spirit brighten, and seeing her begin to heal brought them immense joy.
Healing Takes Time – But Princess Wasn’t Alone
Princess settled into her hospice foster home, finally surrounded by the love and care she had always deserved. Despite everything she had endured, this sweet girl still had so much love to give.
With patience and compassion, she began to heal – not just physically, but emotionally too.
As the days passed and the lovable Poodle continued to thrive, the rescue team started to question whether she even needed hospice care at all.
Her spark had returned, and it was clear this resilient senior just might have a second shot at a forever home.
