Senior Dog Dumped In LA Park Leaves Rescuers In Tears After Seeing What He’s Tied To

Some rescues tug at your heart a little harder than others. And then there are the ones that leave you wiping your eyes, wondering how anyone could let this happen to such a sweet soul.
That’s exactly the kind of call Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Los Angeles, California, got not too long ago.
She’s seen more than her share of tough cases, but this one stuck.
An older cocker spaniel had been found in a park in a way that didn’t even seem real.

Someone had tied him to an orange traffic cone with nothing more than a wire and a screwdriver stuck in the ground.
And there he stayed. Two whole days.
Neighbors had left out some food, but no one stepped in to actually help him. People walked past him as if he wasn’t even there, as if this sweet old dog was invisible.
It’s enough to make your heart ache.

Finally, one of Suzette’s volunteers, Mary, jumped in. She couldn’t stand the thought of him sitting out there one more second.
With a pocket full of treats, she crouched down beside him. This tired, sad pup slowly let his guard down, and soon Mary had him safely in her arms.
She didn’t just free him from that cone; she rescued him from despair. Suzette later shared on Facebook:
“How many more times will we see this? How many more sweet souls will be dumped just because they are old? This poor boy was tied with a screwdriver to an orange cone in a park—for two days. Two days alone, waiting. People left food, but nobody helped.”

The little guy, who would soon be named Landon, wasn’t just abandoned. He was sick. A bad eye infection, painful ears, and pancreatitis were quietly wearing him down.
He needed care right away. Suzette shared:
“His eye infection is so severe the pictures don’t even show how bad it is.”
And even though the rescue was stretched thin, Suzette knew there was no way she could say no. Landon needed them, and they were going to show up for him.

Mary whisked him off to the vet while Suzette rallied support for his treatment. Donations poured in, and soon Landon was finally getting the medical help he had been waiting for far too long.
Watching him go from that broken, forgotten dog in the park to a pup with his tail wagging again was nothing short of amazing.
Little by little, Landon started to change. The sadness in his eyes faded. He began to relax, to play, to smile again.
This senior boy, who had every reason to give up, hadn’t. He held on. And thanks to a team who refused to walk past him, his story flipped from heartbreak to hope.

Now, Landon’s doing so much better. After everything he endured, it’s his time to shine, as Suzette shared in an update:
“This precious boy is better. He’s gentle, grateful, and oh so sweet. After everything he’s endured, it’s finally his time. His time to know love. His time to be cherished. His time to have the life he’s always deserved.”
Landon is looking for a forever home, a place where his gray muzzle will be kissed every day, where soft beds are waiting, and where he will finally get the love he always deserved.
Old dogs like Landon should never be left behind in a park. They should be celebrated, cherished, and spoiled silly. And soon, Landon will know exactly what that feels like.
