Couple Moves Into Their New Home In Tennessee And Finds A Heartwarming Surprise On Their Porch
For Matt Garcia and his wife, their move to a new home in Tennessee was already exciting enough.
Little did they know, something even better was waiting for them at their door.
As they pulled up to their new house, ready to start this new chapter, they were hit with a surprise that made their hearts melt.
There, right by the front door, was a furry little Basset Hound, snoozing away like he lived there.
Matt couldn’t believe his eyes. He and his wife, both huge dog fans, had already felt blessed with their new home, but this moment took it all to another level.
It wasn’t just the house that was special; it was this sweet, sleeping pup.
The little guy was curled up next to their planter, looking perfectly at home. Matt noticed that he didn’t have tag on his collar, which made him even more puzzled.
Was this a lost dog? Or perhaps a neighbor’s pet that wandered over? They weren’t sure, but one thing was certain: this sweet pup was definitely in need of some love.
They fed him, gave him water, and just watched this lovable furball nap peacefully, but they were still unsure of what to do next.
Matt posted a video on TikTok showing the adorable scene. He turned to his followers for advice, hoping they’d have some guidance on what to do with this sweet dog, sharing:
“I found something today, in our planter that kind of came as a little surprise… We found this little buddy in our planter, just kind of sleeping. He’s fine, but we don’t know what to do with him… There’s no tag on that collar though… unfortunately.”
The comments started pouring in. Some people suggested taking the dog to the vet to check for a microchip, while others recommended setting up a cozy bed on the porch.
A few even guessed that maybe he was a regular visitor at the house with the previous owners. One follower couldn’t resist and joked:
“CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW DOG AND HIS HOME.”
Days went by and Matt couldn’t stop thinking about the little Basset Hound. Curious to learn more, he started asking around. In his second video update, he shared what he discovered.
It turned out that the sweet dog’s name was Copper, and he wasn’t lost at all. He lived just a couple of miles away, on the other side of the train tracks.
His family allowed him to roam freely, and it seemed like he had made Matt’s place his own little hangout spot. And Matt was eagerly awaiting for his next visit.
In the update, Matt shared his plans to make Copper a comfy new bed and a pile of squeaky balls so the pup can lounge and play whenever he drops by.
Fans loved it. One even suggested a ring cam so Matt can spot Copper rolling up and have the treats ready.
Copper did visit again just a few days later. Matt was thrilled to see his floppy‑eared buddy trotting up the walkway.
He noticed that the pup looked a bit skinnier than the last time so he gave him fresh water and tasty treats, then sat on the porch to soak up Copper’s easygoing company.
Now, Copper regularly visits Matt and seems perfectly happy to get a few ear scratches, a snack, and a comfy spot to crash.
Turns out a ‘borrowed’ pup is all it takes to weave a little extra happiness into the everyday life.
