Missouri Woman Shocked To Find A Dog Tied To A Crate And Left Alone In The Middle Of A Highway

Driving through the busy roads of Blue Springs, Missouri, a volunteer from Farm To Able spotted something that made her heart stop.

It was a tiny puppy, tied to a crate and abandoned in the middle of the highway.

It was hard to imagine how scared and confused he must have felt, surrounded by roaring cars, with nowhere to run and no one to protect him.

The woman pulled over right away and scooped the trembling pup into her arms. His little body quivered at first, but slowly, he relaxed.

In that moment, it was as if he realized he wasn’t alone anymore. He was safe. He was finally noticed.

That little pup would later be named Sullivan, though in that instant, he was simply a frightened soul clinging to the only hope he had.

The volunteer called Animal Control and followed the proper steps, but after Sullivan’s five-day stray hold ended with no one claiming him, it was clear he needed a real home.

Every local shelter she called was full, but giving up was never an option. She reached out to Sheriee, the founder of the sanctuary, and told her about Sullivan.

Sheriee’s heart went out to him immediately, and she agreed to bring him into her care. She gave him a safe foster home and a chance to find his forever family.

Once at the sanctuary, Sullivan began to relax. He explored cautiously at first, sniffing every corner, taking in the scents and sounds of his new world.

It wasn’t long before he found unlikely companions: pigs, cows, chickens, and even horses. Sheriee shared in a YouTube video:

“I’m sure he was just trying to figure out, ‘What am I supposed to do exactly?’”

When Sheriee’s son, James, met Sullivan, it was an instant bond.

James had always dreamed of having a dog, and the moment he looked into this Pittie’s eyes, he didn’t have to think twice; he just knew. Sheriee shared:

“He said there was just something about it, where he just felt like it was, that was his dog. And I couldn’t be more happy. Their personalities are very, very similar. I just feel like they were made for each other.”

From the moment James held him, Sullivan relaxed completely, melting into his new dad’s arms.

After three weeks at the sanctuary, Sullivan packed up and headed with James to Denver, Colorado.

For the first time, he didn’t have to worry if someone would return or if he would be left behind again. He was home.

Now, his days are filled with adventure, comfort, and love. He goes hiking with James, plays in the snow, and snuggles up at night knowing he is safe, cherished, and adored.

What once began as a terrifying moment on the side of a highway became the start of a life filled with joy and belonging.

All it took was one chance to turn his whole world around.
