Sometimes, puppies can be the biggest little surprises. One moment, you’re thinking you’re holding a Cane Corso pup in your lap, and the next… well, things start looking a little off.

The ears, the paws, the waggy tail… Suddenly you’re wondering, Wait, are you even who I think you are?

That’s exactly what happened to one family in California. They were so excited to welcome not just one, but two adorable Cane Corso puppies into their home.

At first, everything seemed perfect. These pups were playful, cuddly, full of zoomies, and the whole house was filled with happy chaos.

But as the days went by, something started to feel a little funny.

It was Maya, the daughter, who noticed it first. The pups weren’t growing the way Cane Corsos usually do.

Their faces started to look different, and so did their personalities. Maya’s gut told her that maybe, they weren’t pure Cane Corsos after all.

So she did what any curious pup owner would do: she shared a video online, asking others what they thought.

Some people guessed Labrador. Others said maybe a Rottweiler mix. But no answer really felt right.

The family just wanted the truth, not because they loved the dogs any less, but because they were already obsessed with their little chaos machines and just needed to know who they really were.

So they went all in and did a DNA test.

No more guessing games, just straight-up answers. And wow!

It turns out that these adorable goofballs weren’t just Cane Corso.

They were a mix of Rottweiler, Labrador, Doberman, Bully… and even horse!

Yeah, that part is still kind of a mystery. No one really knows how that showed up in the mix, but it definitely adds to the charm.

Turns out, the pups were born from an accidental litter, and even though the breeder offered to take them back, the family didn’t even think twice.

They had already fallen head over heels for those two.

They didn’t care what breed they were or where they came from and there was no way they were giving them up, not for a refund, not for a “correct” puppy, not for anything.

When the results were shared online, people had a lot to say. Some were surprised. Some were confused.

And some shared their own mix-up stories in the comments, as one person said:

“This happened to me last year we had what we thought was a Canne/pit mix after months of his being smaller the owner told us it was a Canne/dasch (wiener dog).”

These kinds of mix-ups happen more often than people realize. But honestly, love has nothing to do with fancy labels or perfect pedigrees.

For Maya and her family, these two pups might not have been what they expected, but they turned out to be more than they ever imagined, as Maya shared:

“Not what we paid for but worth every penny we got back.”

And while their breed might be a mystery, their place in this home is absolutely clear.
