California Rescuers Find Two Fragile Souls In A Rough Shape And Take Immediate Action

When these two tiny sisters were first rescued, no one could have guessed just how special and beautiful they truly were.

At the time, they were in poor condition – covered in dirt, suffering from cloudy eyes, and battling upper respiratory infections.

Even so, the little pair refused to give in. Their resilience and the strong bond they shared with each other stood out right away.

When Thoa Bui, co-founder of Mini Cat Town in California, found out about these two kittens, she immediately took them to her rescue.

The moment Thoa met the pair, she was completely smitten. They were without a doubt two of the most adorable kittens she’d seen in a long time.

The calico was named Pumpkin, while her sister, with her striking Dalmatian-like spots, was given the name Spice.

Both kittens required round-the-clock care, and Thoa was unwavering in her dedication. She shared in an interview:

“They were very sick with eye infections so severe that we were unsure what the outcome would be.”

Thoa and her team were resolute in their mission to provide these kittens with a fresh start in life, starting with nursing their eyes back to health. Thoa said:

“During Pumpkin’s first couple nights with us, we just hoped she would make it because she was very unwell.”

Pumpkin’s condition was far more serious than Spice’s because the cloudiness in Spice’s eyes gradually cleared as she grew more active. 

Pumpkin, however, needed much more attention. Her health was so fragile at first that the rescuers worried she might not survive those first few nights.

Thankfully, with the devoted care of the team and the constant comfort of her sister Spice, she began to pull through.

The swelling in her eyes gradually eased, and though her recovery was slow, her little body grew stronger and fluffier each day. Thoa said:

“After about a week, while their eyes were still being treated, they started feeling better. We knew they would be okay once we saw them eating on their own and playing with each other.”

She added:

“Their newfound energy and playfulness is a far cry from their arrival when they were feeling so sick, sleeping a lot. Their eye treatment regiment was tough on them. We’re so proud of them for their perseverance.”

With Thoa’s care and the dedication of her incredible team, both kittens made a full recovery.

Yet, what touched everyone the most wasn’t just their return to health, but the inseparable bond they maintained through every step of their healing journey.

Their personalities couldn’t be more different, and maybe that’s exactly what makes their sisterly bond so extraordinary.

Spice is confident, energetic, playful, and curious while Pumpkin initially hid in the sister’s shadow, gradually coming out of her shell. Thoa added:

“The girls are quite bonded after going through so much together, and we can’t wait to find them a forever home once they are ready. Spice is super outgoing and loves to play. Pumpkin is a little more shy.”

Pumpkin’s timid nature may have been tied to her struggles with vision. But as her eyes healed, a new side of her began to shine through.

She grew more playful and outgoing, almost as if she had been watching Spice all along and was finally ready to join in on the fun.

With their health restored and spirits high, the two sisters left their hardships behind. Together, they stepped into a brighter future, where love and happiness awaited them in their forever home.

Thoa couldn’t contain her joy as she shared the delightful news on Mini Cat Town:

“Pumpkin and Spice recently found their forever home with a wonderful family in Oregon!”
