Feral Cat In Colorado Hissed At Everyone Until One Woman Taught Him What Love Feels Like

This isn’t just another rescue story, it’s a touching reminder of how patience, love, and faith can transform lives, even for cats who’ve known nothing but hardship.

In Colorado, thirteen feral cats suddenly found themselves in a heartbreaking situation. Their longtime caretaker, an elderly woman who had always looked after them, had to move into a care home. Overnight, the cats were left without shelter or support, right as winter’s icy grip settled in.

With temperatures plunging to minus 40 degrees, their chances of survival grew slimmer by the hour. But just when it seemed the odds were stacked against them, a dedicated local rescue team stepped in. 

Braving the brutal cold, they worked tirelessly to round up all thirteen cats and bring them to safety, giving each one a much-needed chance at a better life.

Among them was a timid ginger tabby named Eeyore. He wasn’t just scared; he was skittish to the extreme and seemed to be suffering from an eye infection.

Marcia, a devoted member of the rescue team, immediately noticed him and decided she had to do everything she could to help.

She brought him home under her foster care, ready for what would turn out to be a slow and delicate process.

Eeyore was a challenge from the start. Any attempt to approach him was met with hisses and swats. Marcia shared in a YouTube video:

“I would put my phone there, and he would only ever come out of his hut when I would leave. As soon as I would show any movement towards him, he would immediately hiss and swat.”

But Marcia didn’t give up. She knew that earning Eeyore’s trust would take time, patience, and a lot of love.

She worked on letting him get used to her presence and scent, showing him that her hands were safe, as she shared:

“I would wear two pairs of gloves, and I would just start to leave my hand there. I didn’t shake, I didn’t flinch, and I just showed him that my hand’s not going to leave, it’s not going to harm or take from you.”

Slowly, little by little, Eeyore started to thaw. Marcia could finally touch him and even give him gentle pets from time to time.

Then one day, she noticed something alarming: Eeyore’s teeth were badly decayed. It was a huge revelation. His fear wasn’t just from past trauma; he had been living with pain too.

Marcia quickly started a fundraiser to cover his dental surgery. After the procedure, the change in Eeyore was remarkable.

He became more relaxed, friendly, and visibly happier. He stopped hiding and began making eye contact, enjoying Marcia’s company.

One of the most touching moments was when he placed his little paw on Marcia’s arm. It was a small gesture, but for Marcia, it meant the world, as she shared:

“That was a really, really big step.”

Marcia fostered Eeyore for 84 days. While she wanted to keep him, she knew he deserved more than she could provide: a home with love, space, and comfort.

Luckily, a kind-hearted family stepped forward and offered exactly that. Eeyore finally had his forever home, a room all his own, and the life every cat dreams of.

His journey from freezing, frightened feral to a confident, loved kitty is nothing short of miraculous.
