Virginia Woman Finds 5 Just-Born Kittens Completely Covered In Ice And Barely Clinging To Life
Anyone who’s lived in Virginia knows how harsh the winters can be. The cold sinks into your bones, the wind stings your face, and all you want is a warm place to hide.
Now imagine trying to survive that kind of weather as a tiny outdoor kitten with nowhere safe to hide.
Sadly, this is the season when we hear some of the toughest rescue stories… and the one you’re about to read is no different. But don’t worry, this one ends with a smile.
One icy morning, a woman was going about her usual day when she spotted something in the snow that made her stop immediately.
Five newborn kittens, literally frozen into a block of ice, lay helplessly on the ground. They looked so fragile that she wasn’t even sure they were still alive.
With no mama cat anywhere nearby, the woman realized she was their only shot. She gently gathered the babies and raced home, determined to warm them up.
Once inside, she started heating their bodies, slowly bringing life back into them. She did everything she could think of to pull them out of danger.
As soon as she saw the tiniest bit of improvement, she reached out to her local rescue.
The team quickly contacted one of their trusted foster moms, knowing she’d help in a heartbeat.

After settling in, Foster Kitten HQ introduced the babies to their online followers in a Facebook post:
“They were clearly born yesterday, as they were still sticky and yellow from birth, their cords are not dried, and they had a meconium poop. Good news is, everyone warmed up nicely, they’ve all now been cleaned up, and they are feisty little things! I *believe* we have two boys and three girls.”
Their foster mom welcomed them with open arms and even gave them an adorable group nickname: the poppin’ bottle babies.
Within just a few days, you could see a difference.
The incubator kept them warm, and the around-the-clock bottle feedings helped their tiny bodies get stronger.
It was honestly amazing to watch these once-frozen kittens start bouncing back.
By week two, Jameson, Jäger, Kahlua, Hennessy, and Morgan had opened their eyes and were full of life.
They rolled around, wrestled with each other, and waddled all over their little space. Of course, eating and napping still took first place on their to-do list.
Honestly… sounds like the perfect life.
But as often happens with outdoor-born babies, things hit a bump. Little Jäger and Kahlua suddenly became sick.
Their foster mom shared the worrying update on Facebook:
“Not only is it gross and extra work with all the cleanup, but more importantly they are dropping a little weight with every explosion, and we want to make sure they don’t get to the point of not eating too.”
Thankfully, the scare didn’t last long.
Just a few days later, both kittens perked up again.
Their stomachs settled, they started eating normally, and they were back to their adorable “milk-drunk” selves after each bottle.
These babies were definitely fighters.
As time went on, the poppin’ bottle babies grew bigger, stronger, and fluffier until they were ready for the moment every kitten dreams of: finding a forever family.
And the best part? All five got adopted!
Kahlua, Hennessy, and Morgan went to the same home, while sweet Jäger was adopted with a foster sibling he had bonded with.
Jameson found his perfect match too.
