Florida Woman Makes A Thousand-Mile Trip To Adopt A Kitten She Couldn’t Stop Thinking About

Motivated by her bond with a kitten named Candy Corn, whom she first met while volunteering at the Escambia County Animal Shelter, Amy set out on a long trip from Florida to Pennsylvania to bring him home.

Candy and her siblings were rescued and taken to a shelter in Escambia County, Pensacola, Florida, where they received medical attention and a safe place to stay.

Amy volunteered to foster the kittens, making sure they had all they needed to grow healthy and strong. The arrangement was that she would care for them until they were ready to travel to Media, Pennsylvania, where permanent homes were waiting.

Although all the kittens were undeniably adorable, there was something about little Candy Corn that utterly captivated Amy. From the moment she laid eyes on her, she felt an immediate connection.

Among all her siblings, Candy appeared to have the strongest attachment to her caretaker. She relished being in Amy’s company and adored perching on her shoulders to feel even closer.

Just like Amy before her, Linny quickly fell under their spell — especially the charming Candy Corn, who captured her heart in the same way he had captured Amy’s.

Linny quickly noticed Candy’s affectionate nature and her preference for human companionship. 

It didn’t take long for her to realize that this adorable feline enjoyed attention more than anything else, sometimes even foregoing meals for a chance to interact with humans.

Linny recalled moments when she had to step out of the room during mealtime because Candy would rather stay close and play around her legs than eat. 

Not only did Candy enjoy Linny’s company, but she also loved playing with Linny’s dogs. It was clear to everyone that Candy was the sweetest kitten, and it was no surprise that she captured the hearts of all who met her.

Meanwhile, back in Florida, Amy couldn’t stop thinking about the kitten who had captured her heart. Candy was never far from her thoughts, and the longing often brought her to tears.

Her friends and family noticed how much she missed him and began asking whether Candy might still be available for adoption.

At last, the day Amy had been waiting for came. After a few months, Candy was old enough to be spayed and finally ready to move into a forever home.

When Amy learned of this, she didn’t hesitate for a second. She swiftly jumped into her car and embarked on a journey from Pensacola, Florida, all the way to Media, Pennsylvania – a staggering 1,090 miles – to reunite with her beloved Candy.
