Four Portland Kittens Hold On To Each Other Hoping For A Hero To Take Them To Safety
It’s always a treat to stumble upon a heartwarming cat rescue story, and while they may not be rare, each one deserves to be celebrated.
This is one of those moments where the spotlight belongs to the incredible rescuer.
So, let’s take a moment to applaud the heroine of today’s story. Her name is Jessica Thompson, and she’s the kind soul who stepped in to save four tiny kittens from the rain, and the harshness of life on the streets.
Jessica, a compassionate foster mum and talented veterinarian from Portland, Oregon, has dedicated herself to helping cats in need and offering them a safe, loving place to heal.
Not long ago, she came across four tiny kittens struggling on the rainy streets in Portland. The little ones were scared and desperately hungry.
Without wasting a moment, Jessica wrapped them in warm blankets and served up a hearty meal, which they eagerly devoured as if they hadn’t eaten in days.
On Instagram, Jessica shared that despite their best efforts, she and her team weren’t able to find the kittens’ mother. Still, knowing her determination, it’s safe to say the search didn’t end there.
After the kittens finished their much-needed meal, Jessica suddenly had her hands full with the playful chaos that comes after – classic kitten mischief.

The kittens spent a total of five days under Jessica’s loving care before being transferred to another kind-hearted Portland-based foster momma, Jeniffer Pidgeon.
Jessica shared the reason behind their relocation on her Instagram, saying:
“Sometimes being a foster mom means making the best choice for your foster kitties. In my case, this means that these messy 4 moved on to another foster home. (…) With work and the medical cases I have right now, I just cannot keep up with keeping them clean, fed and still take care of me. Deep breath. Sigh. I only had them for a few days, but I miss them already.”
Jessica’s choice reflects both her deep sense of responsibility and her boundless compassion.
By making sure these four kittens would be placed in another loving home, she gave them the chance at the happy life they deserved.
It may not have been the easiest decision, but it was certainly the best one for them.
With Jennifer as their foster mum, the kittens thrived, surrounded by all the love, attention, and care they could ever hope for on their journey to a brighter future.
They had a lot of older feline siblings to show them all the nooks and crannies of Jeniffer’s house. It’s safe to say that they were very happy in their new home. Just listen to them as they purr their little feline heart out:
Jeniffer affectionately nicknamed her new furry companions ‘mushroom kittens’ and documented their growth journey on her Instagram.
The little ones were given four charming names: Oyster, Enoki, Button, and Porcini. Fluffy and full of affection, they were playful, sociable, and loved nothing more than romping around with their feline friends, Jingles and Carrot.
After a few months of growing strong and healthy, the mushroom kittens were ready to move on to their forever homes.
The plan was for them to be adopted in pairs, and that’s exactly how it worked out. Porcini and Enoki became the first duo, while Button and Oyster formed the second.
Each pair went off to cat-loving families, turning what began as a heartbreaking story into a truly joyful ending.
