Today’s story is one of those heartwarming tales that will pull at your heartstrings.
Max Adams advocates for men’s mental health and raises money for research on dangerous diseases such as prostate cancer.
Every year, Max and a group of his friends hike 40 miles through the woods to show support for men struggling with mental health. However, on his last hike, Max had no idea he was about to meet someone special…
With the weather changing and the temperatures dropping significantly, Max’s last hike was quite a challenge.
But 6 miles into his hike, Max heard what seemed to be desperate meows coming from a nearby tree.
He started following the tiny meows and to his surprise, a tiny fluffy kitten found refuge on a small tree.
However, the poor kitten was frozen and he desperately needed help. Max couldn’t figure out how such a tiny kitten could end up in the woods.
He immediately scooped him up and the kitten instantly jumped on his shoulder! As Max said in his video:
“I held him in my arms and he just climbed right up my side. He’s kind of like a parrot.”
Instead of continuing his hike, Max decided to return to his car and bring the kitten to safety. He soon figured out that the woods were surrounded by local farms and that the fluffball belonged to someone.
Max decided it was crucial to warm the kitten up first before searching for his humans. However, the adorable kitten captured Max’s heart and he knew once he found his family it would be a hard goodbye for him.
The next morning he made sure to post about the kitten online and before he knew it, the kitten’s owner reached out to him.
It turned out that the night the kitten went missing, a huge snowstorm hit the area. The poor thing somehow got caught up in it while he was out playing in the barn and this is how he got lost.
His family searched for him but after 4 days of no luck, they thought they lost their sweet fluffball forever.
Their daughter was so upset, that the parents immediately went and adopted another kitten, not knowing that Max had found their first furry friend.
So, the family decided it would be best for Max to keep him. And Max loved the idea! He named him Hytch and this is how the frozen furball found his forever home.
Hytch’s old family still keeps in touch with Max, and the kids send him cards filled with drawings every year!
I’m so glad Mac found Hytch in the woods that day and decided to bring him to safety.
