A Heartbreaking Loss
Meet Panda, a 15-pound feline with a delightfully grumpy face. At first glance, this imposing senior cat might look like he wants to be left alone.

Panda’s life wasn’t always a struggle. He once had a cozy home and an older woman who loved him dearly.

Asking For Help
By the time he was at least 13 years old, the elements had taken their toll on the senior cat.
He was getting sick and tired of fending for himself. Katie Cats Sims, who fosters for Billy the Kidden Rescue, believes the wise cat finally decided he needed help.
Rather than running away, Panda willingly walked into a humane trap. He was ready to let kind humans take over his care.
The Bathroom Sanctuary
When Katie first brought the massive cat home, she set him up in a quiet bathroom to decompress.
Panda was overwhelmed and greeted his new foster mom with hisses and a very mad expression. He spent his first few hours hiding safely behind the toilet, watching her every move.
Katie knew he was just scared. She gave him the space he needed, offering food and a calm presence.
The Magic Of A Good Brush
Katie was patient, speaking softly to the frightened feline to show him he was safe.
By the second or third day, a massive shift occurred in the bathroom sanctuary. Panda cautiously approached Katie and allowed her to gently run a brush through his fur.

Now that he is safe indoors, he has absolutely no interest in looking out the window or going back outside. He knows where the good life is.
Craving Human Touch

Panda proved that stereotype completely wrong. Despite his grumpy face, he craves gentle touches, belly rubs, and a warm place to rest his weary bones.
He is highly intelligent and makes almost human-like eye contact with the people who care for him.
Better Than A Hundred Kittens
Today, Panda is thriving in his foster home, proving that senior cats have so much love left to give.
He purrs loudly like a motor whenever Katie is near, soaking up every ounce of attention.
For Katie, this grumpy-faced grandpa is a perfect companion. As she beautifully puts it, she wouldn’t trade him for a hundred adorable, fluffy kittens.
