Horse Goes Missing During A Field Walk Only To Be Found Trapped Up To His Neck In A Sinkhole

One day, a 27-year-old horse named Prince went for his usual stroll through the familiar field. Little did he know that that peaceful walk was about to turn into a nightmare.
One second, he was walking like he always did, and the next, he was stuck in a deep sinkhole, completely trapped.
When the stable hand realized he was missing, everyone started to panic. A search began right away, and it wasn’t long before they found poor Prince stuck in the hole, unable to move.

His body wedged so deeply that only his head and neck were above the ground. With no time to waste, they knew they had to act fast to get him out.
The local fire and rescue team quickly arrived, ready to take on the challenge. They had dealt with similar situations before, rescuing animals from all sorts of predicaments.
But this was different. This time, a life was at risk, and they had to be extra careful.

So they decided to dig him out instead of using slings, which could have put Prince in more danger, as rescuer Damian Cameron shared in an interview:
“We’ve had similar incidents in the past where cows have got stuck in sink holes, and we do have the option of putting slings around them and lifting them out. However, we felt this could be dangerous for Prince, and so we opted to dig him out instead.”
As the team began to plan the rescue, they knew the most important thing was keeping Prince calm.

They carefully fitted him with a head collar, covered his eyes, and stuffed cotton wool in his ears to block out any loud sounds. Once the sedation kicked in, the rescue operation started in full swing.
A local business pitched in with an excavator, and they carefully began digging a trench to make a safe path for Prince to walk out. Slowly but surely, they worked together until they finally guided Prince out from the sinkhole.
When he finally stepped out, everyone was so happy and relieved. It was a beautiful sight. He was safe, unharmed, and back on solid ground.

The reunion between Prince and his owner, Helen Tempest, was full of emotion. For Helen, it was hard to believe what had just happened.
Prince had always been a calm, gentle horse, and the idea that he’d ended up in such a dangerous situation just didn’t feel real. She was so thankful to the rescue team for everything they did, sharing:
“I had no idea what to do, and the crew came and took control, worked quickly and efficiently, and were so good with Prince. I really can’t thank them enough.”

After the rescue, Prince was back to his usual self. He enjoyed being safe in his stable and getting extra care from his mom.
This happy ending wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing rescuers who stepped up and made all the difference.
Thanks to their hard work and quick thinking, he got the chance to go back to the safe, calm life he deserves.
