These Horses Keep Breaking Into Their Owner’s House And We Can’t Stop Watching

Hermy isn’t just any horse. He’s a mastermind. A big, clever troublemaker with a heart of gold.

The first time Hermy broke into his owner’s house, they were shocked. How did he even do it? The doors were locked.

But Hermy? He was strong. Too strong. And stubborn enough to figure out a way in, no matter what.

Now it’s a daily routine. He has a system. With an impressive twist of his lip, he works his way in, as his mom shared in a YouTube video:

“He knows how to twist his lip and get it in between the two handles and then just – boom!”

The other horses catch on too, but they don’t bother with the effort. Why struggle when Hermy does all the work? They just stand back, waiting for the door to swing open, and then casually stroll in.

It’s not uncommon for their mom to suddenly feel eyes watching her from across the room. Turning around, there they are: three horses standing in the doorway, staring like they’re waiting for an invitation.

It’s hard to say no. How can anyone resist those sweet, curious faces?

They love this little game. They love watching their humans just as much as their humans love watching them, as their mom shared:

“I think they really enjoy living with us cuz they can watch us and we can watch them and I think it’s entertaining for them.”

And, of course, they know that if they linger long enough, eventually someone sighs, gives in, and says, Oh my God, fine! You’re too cute! Come in.

For their owners, sharing a home with horses isn’t just about farming. It’s a lifestyle, built on a deep love and connection with them.

It all started with Glytja, the strong-willed mare who stole their hearts and changed everything. In the beginning, she was the only one, but she wasn’t living with the family.

She was an hour away from their home, and every visit felt too short. Driving back and forth just to spend time with her became exhausting, and being apart never felt right.

So the family began to wonder, What if she wasn’t just a visitor in their lives? What if she was always there? The solution became clear: they needed to live together.

So, they made it happen. They built a barn right into the house. No stalls, no barriers, just one door separating them, as the owner shared:

“We built the house knowing that some things are going to get dinged up and that’s okay. We love it when they show their expressions and their personalities.”

Now, five horses are living with them. Through good days and bad, the herd is always there.

Their owner, who has faced the difficult journey of battling cancer, finds comfort in their presence, sharing:

“A lot of times when I would get done with chemo for my cancer I would just come home and just go sit out there with them because they just make you feel better… They just know if you need their love and support.”

At the end of the day, it’s not about the barn or the house. It’s about that special bond, a life shared with the ones who just get you and bring so much comfort without saying a word.

Isn’t that what home really is?
