Kentucky Vet Goes The Extra Mile To Save A Cat That Was About To Get Euthanized
Most people might choose to ignore or euthanize an injured cat, seeing it as the easiest option. Unfortunately, that’s often the case. However, there are still a few who choose to do things differently.
A beautiful orange cat with a wounded leg was brought to a vet with the intention of being put down, but veterinary surgeon Dr. Matt McGlasson had a different plan for the cat’s future.
A group of people, who had been feeding stray cats, noticed this gorgeous orange kitty and were instantly drawn to him.
Concerned about his injury, they realized he was in great pain and wanted to end his suffering. After much thought, they decided to take him to the vet for euthanasia.
But Dr. McGlasson, known for his compassion towards animals, wasn’t ready to give up on the cat.
“My staff knows I have a soft spot for cats – we actually rescued and treated kittens during COVID when our kids were completing school from home. They requested that the customer sign over the cat to me.”
After examining the cat, Dr. McGlasson determined that euthanasia wasn’t necessary. He believed he could help the cat and give him a second chance.
The cat, later named Nemo, began receiving treatment. Unfortunately, Nemo’s leg was so badly injured that it had to be amputated.
Despite this, Nemo was in capable hands, and the surgery was a success. Everyone involved was thrilled to help him adjust to his new life as a three-legged cat.
During his recovery, Nemo showed immense gratitude to everyone who helped him.
“He is the sweetest cat you’d ever meet. He cares for everyone,” Dr. McGlasson said, bonding with the affectionate feline.
Though Dr. McGlasson had developed a strong bond with Nemo, he was unable to adopt him due to already having several cats at home. But Nemo’s luck was far from over. One of the vet techs fell in love with him and decided to offer him a loving forever home.
Dr. McGlasson shared the wonderful news:
“He’s doing fantastic. He enjoys being a home cat and travels well on three legs.”

Nemo went from being abandoned and scheduled for euthanasia to thriving in his forever home, all thanks to a compassionate vet and those who believed he deserved another chance.
