Everyone Thought This Burned Kitten Wouldn’t Make It, But She Ends Up Proving Them All Wrong

Everyone Thought This Burned Kitten Wouldn’t Make It, But She Ends Up Proving Them All Wrong

Sharing is caring!

A lot of kittens find themselves in tough situations, but Lucky’s story is surely one of the saddest. This little cat was discovered in a really sticky mess, quite literally.

It all started on a regular day in Athens, New York. A kind man was walking by when he heard some weak, sad meows.

Curious, he bent down to look under the dirty dumpster. What he found was heartbreaking: a tiny, three-week-old kitten trapped in tar. The poor thing was having a hard time breathing, completely stuck in the gooey mess.

Feeling a strong sense of empathy, the man realized he couldn’t just walk away and leave her in pain.

With a heavy heart, he squeezed under the dumpster and spent a whole hour carefully working to free the trapped kitten. Once he finally got her out, he hurried her over to AnimalKind, a nearby animal rescue group.

When they arrived at AnimalKind, the staff was taken aback by how the kitten looked. She was completely covered in tar and hardly looked like a living animal.

But, they were determined to help her! As Katrin Hecker, the founder of AnimalKind shared in an interview:

“We immediately gave her fluids due to her fragile condition and the heat of the day. Then we washed her with warm water and Dawn [soap], but all of her limbs were stuck together. Then four people cleaned her with mineral oil and washed her with Dawn for three hours.”

Even though the cleaning was tough, Lucky showed an amazing amount of strength. She was a little fighter, a small bundle of fur with a strong will.

As the days went by, she started to get better. Her wounds healed, she began to eat again, and her playful side started to show. Even though she was just a little kitten and had faced so many tough situations, many were really worried she might not survive.

However, it seems like even when things seem really bad, there’s always a chance for hope. The way Lucky went from being covered in tar and almost passing to becoming a happy, healthy kitten is like a miracle. Katrin added:

“She is so tiny but a fighter. She has some burn wounds on her tiny body from the hot tar. These are healing good. She is eating well and is in a foster home.”

Now, Lucky is doing great in her foster home. She has a caring cat mom who is looking after her since her own kittens have found new homes.

Plus, believe it or not, she has a doggy foster sibling who keeps an eye on her, making sure she’s safe while she explores her new surroundings.

She still has a couple of months before she can find her forever family, but for now, she’s enjoying her foster home and getting better every day.

It’s hard to think about all the scary things Lucky went through, but her story is quite amazing. As she keeps getting better and growing, I can’t help but feel so thankful for the kind people who helped save her life.
