Kitten Left On Las Vegas Streets After Her Mom Took Her Siblings And Never Came Back

Ellen Richter recently took in a sweet little foster kitten named Hadley, and their journey together touched my heart in so many ways. Let’s go back to where it all started.

Ellen is widely recognized on Instagram as Foster Kitten Tails, where she shares the everyday adventures of the cats and kittens she fosters, along with their inspiring stories.

Not long ago, Ellen shared a photo of a tiny kitten who arrived in her care in urgent need of help. 

The little one was named Hadley and had been discovered all alone in a woman’s back garden. 

The woman had seen the mother cat carrying her kittens to safety, but sadly, she never returned to collect Hadley.

The woman kept watch, hoping the mother would come back and that Hadley hadn’t truly been left behind.

Sadly, it became clear the kitten had been abandoned. Without wasting any time, she contacted Ellen, confident that Hadley would be in the best hands with her.

Ellen welcomed Hadley straight away, even though she knew caring for her wouldn’t be easy. 

At just five to seven days old, the tiny kitten required constant attention and round-the-clock care.

Her foster mom would wake up every two hours during the night, just to bottle feed her. Ellen made her a special spot in her home, as she said in her post:

“She’ll be in her own area, quarantined and bottle-fed, to ensure she’s healthy and has no possible contagious skin issues.”

During the first week, Ellen had no reason to worry about Hadley. She fed eagerly, used the litter just as she should, and steadily put on weight like any thriving kitten.

That’s when Ellen came up with a wonderful idea, though she wasn’t certain how it would turn out.

At the same time, she was also fostering a mother cat named Liberty along with her sweet litter of kittens.

Ellen wanted to introduce little Hadley to the mama cat, hoping she could nurse together with her kittens. 

It was a struggle at first, but Ellen managed to introduce little Hadley! As she shared in an update:

“It’s been a bit of a challenge introducing, but we’re getting there. I’m happy she’s able to spend time with other kittens, as well as getting some of mama’s milk. It’s full of nutrition and will help her be healthy.”

Hadley only managed to nurse from Liberty for a couple of days before things took a turn. The other kittens began pushing her away, leaving her without enough to eat.

Ellen quickly stepped in, making sure to bottle-feed Hadley after each attempt so the tiny kitten would still get the nourishment she needed.

Things became even more worrying when Hadley lost her appetite and developed diarrhea. Fearing for her fragile health, Ellen devoted every free moment to caring for her. 

After nearly four long days, Hadley finally began eating again, and to Ellen’s relief, the diarrhea cleared up too.

Before long, Hadley began to thrive, eating well and growing stronger each day. In just a few weeks, she had blossomed into a lively, healthy little kitten. 

Around that time, Ellen took in another stray mother cat with her litter, whom she named Darcy. To Ellen’s surprise, Darcy treated Hadley as though she were her own. 

Hadley quickly bonded with Darcy’s kittens, spending her days playing, pouncing, and curling up for naps right alongside them.

A couple that has been following Hadley’s journey on Instagram reached out to Ellen. They were hoping to adopt her and give her a loving home! 

It was hard saying goodbye to her, but Ellen knew she was on her way to a better place! As she shared in a goodbye post:

“I’m so happy to see you thrive and can now start the next adventure, surrounded by love and happiness.”

Because of Ellen’s devotion, Hadley’s story transformed from one of abandonment to one of joy. She grew into a happy, playful kitten with a bright future ahead. 

It’s truly inspiring to see the care and effort Ellen puts into giving vulnerable cats a safe foster home and the opportunity for a better life.
