New Jersey Shelter Responds To Cry For Help From A Kitten Trapped In Storm Drain
A New Jersey shelter received an urgent call about a kitten stuck in a storm drain, and they rushed to her rescue without hesitation.
It all began with a desperate cry echoing from the drain. Animal control officers Jess and Karen quickly sprang into action – this tiny kitten’s life depended on them.
When they arrived at the scene, the heart-wrenching sound of the kitten’s cries pierced the air, and their hearts sank.
The kitten’s desperate meows for help were impossible to ignore. But despite their efforts, the poor little kitten was too frightened and too far out of reach to be saved right away.
For hours, Jess and Karen tried various methods to bring the kitten to safety, but she was too terrified to come close. It seemed like the rescue was hopeless.
After hours of trying, the team decided to set up a humane trap near the drain, hoping the kitten would be lured inside by the food they placed in it overnight.
The following morning brought a glimmer of hope: though the kitten hadn’t entered the trap, she was sitting right on top of it.
Refusing to give up, Jess and Karen carefully used a net in a last-ditch effort to catch the frightened kitten.
After two long hours of struggle, their perseverance paid off, and they finally managed to save her.
Cold and shivering, the kitten was rushed inside to warm up and get some care. She was named Stormy, and after being trapped for what might have been more than 24 hours, she was finally safe.
Stormy was placed in a foster home, where she received the treatment she needed for her respiratory condition and eye infections.
The shelter workers described her as a sweet, affectionate little kitten, full of energy and ready to experience life’s joys.
They shared on Facebook:
“She is receiving nutritious meals, and treatment for her eye infections. She is a friendly little girl who seems very happy to be with us. Cheers to ACOs Jess and Karen, and the folks from DPW that pitched in to help a tiny kitten in need!”
Even with her health challenges, including her eye condition, Stormy’s zest for life was evident.
She explored her new surroundings with curiosity and vigour, determined to recover and thrive. The little survivor’s heart was full of courage and hope.
Stormy has a long road to recovery ahead, but with the love and care she’s receiving, she’ll be back to her playful, loving self in no time.
She has an insatiable appetite and a deep need for affection, soaking up every moment of love she can get.
Stormy’s resilience and determination make her a fighter, and one day, she’ll find a family who will give her all the love she has to offer.
